The Philosophy with Art History BA will help you bring a clarity and rigour to your thinking about topics such as morality, metaphysics, and art. Particularly of interest for you will be the third year philosophy course in Aesthetics – studying the philosophy of beauty and the philosophy of art, ranging from Plato’s claim that we should rid ourselves of all poets to Hegel and Arthur Danto’s assertion that art has ended. You will also, in your minor, study particular artistic media, such as painting, ceramics and architecture.

In the Economics minor you will complement your study of English with an understanding of the structures that influence the cultures and societies that produce literature – as well as keep up quantitative skills, ensuring that you will be one of the most well-rounded graduates in the job market.

Contemporary International Relations (IR) faces two main challenges: the first relates to ecological sustainability and the second to digital spaces. Both challenges pose new power shifts, influences and organisational structures in an increasingly interconnected world. These challenges are often regarded separately, however they are both uniquely complex and multifaceted.

The MSc in Digital Politics and Sustainable Development is an interdisciplinary programme, looking at how these two challenges interact and the unique approaches to tackle them. You will study six historical periods, from Roman Empire Britain through to modern America, as well as broader survey courses and the study of the historical discipline itself, and its applications and practices. Through your Law minor, you will develop an understanding of the legal system and how it has changed over time, and enhance your skills of reasoning and argument.

The Law with Politics & International Relations LLB (Hons) is a Qualifying Law Degree, covering all of the Solicitors’ Regulation Authority and Bar Standards Board required areas of study to permit progression onto the professional training courses for qualification as a solicitor or barrister.

The Philosophy, Politics & Economics BA (Hons) at NCH offers three separate pathways to the degree. The Philosophy pathway enables you to study Philosophy as your major subject, comprising 50% of your undergraduate degree, alongside Politics and Economics as joint minors, each of which will form 25% of your degree studies.
