Studying the English with Law BA (Hons) will help you to analyse texts in both a creative and a technical manner. You will study rhetoric, stylistics, and learn to compare different texts and other art forms. You will engage with literary criticism, as well as well as studying literature from 1550 to the present day. You’ll complement these studies with the both theoretical and applied nature of studying law, in which you will use your skills of language analysis to make precise arguments about the nature of different legal documents.

The Philosophy with History BA (Hons) enables you to investigate two major traditional methods of viewing the world. In your Philosophy major, you’ll learn about the way people have thought, through rigorously analysing language, critically assessing historical perspectives of the constitution of the world, and going on to create arguments around classic and modern texts with precision and consistent accuracy. In History, you will study the way people have lived, through reflecting on the complex, and often contradictory, information about the past that is available to us now.

For this English with Economics BA (Hons) degree, you will study a broad range of literature from 1550 to the present day, and focus on literary forms and how they have changed over time. In the Economics minor you will complement your study of English with an understanding of the structures that influence the cultures and societies that produce literature – as well as keep up quantitative skills, ensuring that you will be one of the most well-rounded graduates in the job market.

The English with Data Science BA (Hons) will allow you to study the full range of artistic expression. You’ll take courses covering literature from 1550 to the present day, and you’ll explore forms of literature such as political speeches, the plays of Shakespeare, and responses to them.  For your Data Science minor, you’ll be able to analyse data and effectively extract useful information.

You’ll take a course in political theory, questioning not only how these organisations work, but also how thinkers have theorised they ought to work. This degree programme enables you to study Art History and Philosophy for your combined honours degree. The study of Art History gives you the opportunity to see and interpret moments in history through their architecture and material culture. The central aim of the Philosophy minor is to bring clarity and rigour to your thinking and to advance your understanding of, and ability to engage with, fundamental philosophical questions, arguments, theories and texts.

The central aim of our PPH program is to increase your understanding of, and ability to engage with, central questions, arguments, and texts in Philosophy, Politics and History, and to provide a lively sense of interrelations between these subjects. With the Philosophy, Politics & History BA (Hons) at NCH, history will be your major and you will study the other two as joint minors. In each year, you’ll study two courses in your major subject, and one course in each of the remaining two minor subjects.

The MSc Responsible Artificial Intelligence is a well-integrated programme of study with a targeted focus on both in theory and in application. Presupposing no background in computing, students are equipped with relevant knowledge and data programming skills, covering not only recent technical developments, but also broader ethical and theoretical considerations.

The option to study philosophical issues of AI whilst pursuing a Masters level computing degree is a unique offering in the UK, allowing students the opportunity to delve on the technical as well as the societal impact of data processing and, in particular, machine learning applications.

The programme allows students to progressively develop their understanding of the techniques of data science, machine learning, and natural language processing, alongside key concepts and methods of computer science, while honing their programming skills in Python and Java; and, at the same time, refine their thinking and communication skills, through humanities courses devoted to a consideration of key practical and theoretical issues, arising in connection with AI.
