The study of heritage is vital for understanding our sense of identity and place. Heritage has widespread meaning; past, present and future narratives are interwoven with both physical features (landscapes, buildings, structures, monuments and objects), and more intangible practices based on oral traditions and living memory that enliven and enrich cultural experience (stories, traditions, crafts, food, dance, music and poetry).

The programme will span local, regional and global heritage, investigating new methods, and the value of heritage and for contemporary society across many cultural contexts. The programme is at the forefront of initiatives that recognise the importance of heritage and culture to future social cohesion and economic success by building a meaningful understanding of our diverse pasts.

In addition to vocational skills, studying Heritage and Archaeology will give you a broad range of transferable skills including problem solving, team working, and independent research, preparing you for a wide variety of careers, future study and research. As a University of Bradford chemistry student, you will have choice and flexibility in your degree. During the first two years, you will develop a sound understanding of theoretical and practical aspects of chemistry with core content delivered across the traditional areas of organic, inorganic and physical chemistry. 

The third year will introduce you to specialist content in medicinal, materials and analytical chemistry. You will also have the opportunity to study a specific subject by choosing to a greater depth during an extended dissertation.

Our Master's programme in Marketing and Management covers core business practices and marketing principles, giving you the range of competencies you need to become a marketing professional or pursue a management career with a specialism in marketing. The programme equips you with the necessary knowledge and skills in marketing and management which reflect relevant research, best practice and innovative thinking to enhance your employability. The programme also serves as preparation for further study or an academic career in marketing.

This course develops skills in core biomedical, chemical and forensic sciences, helping you become a skilled forensic practitioner.

The emphasis is on biosciences, and then shifts towards disease processes and forensic investigation of physical evidence types.

In addition to the pursuit of core sciences, you will study forensic investigation in anthropology and topics relating to archaeology - including the degradation of human remains and physical materials - which will develop your skills in forensic interpretation. The final year develops your professional skills through a forensic research dissertation.

The course prepares you for a wide range of careers, including those in the professional medical and forensic sectors because of its broad basis and application.

Our innovative and award winning degree programme, delivered predominately by Team-Based Learning (TBL), has been designed by pharmacists, educators, students and employers to ensure that you will graduate not only with the necessary knowledge and skills of a pharmacy graduate, but also with the confidence, communication, team-working, and problem-solving skills needed to secure employment. Our classes simulate the workplace and you will work in small teams to solve real-world problems, many of which are brought into the classroom from pharmacy practice by our team of pharmacist teacher-practitioners.

Biomedical scientists have been working tirelessly since the pandemic began to develop diagnostic tests, run COVID testing laboratories, develop vaccines and support doctors in the urgent research into treatment and prevention strategies for the virus. It is a career at the cutting-edge of medical research.

Biomedical Science is the in-depth study of human biology in both normal and disease states. This course provides you with detailed understanding of the causes of human disease, how these produce symptoms and the effects of disease on the structure and function of human cells, tissues, and the whole organism. You will learn both current techniques used in the study of human diseases in the NHS, and innovative technologies under development for experimental treatments.

The new LLM in International Commercial Law gives you specialist knowledge of the regulation of international commerce, and a thorough understanding of the broader social, economic and political contexts which shape modern commercial law and practice.

The course offers a wide range of modules that are contemporary, academically rigorous and skills oriented. You'll gain core knowledge of the framework and regulatory environment of modern commerce whilst having the flexibility to tailor your degree to suit your particular interests and career aspirations by choosing from a range of specialist commercial law modules (and optional modules from the School of Management).  

Whatever your choice, your studies will examine key contemporary issues such as developments in information technology, free trade and trade protectionism, Brexit, and sustainability.

Utilising industry standard facilities, technologies and software, under the supervision of a team of experienced and industry active lecturers, you will gain a solid grounding in:

During your final year on the course you will undertake a major bespoke production project, where you will be able to collaborate with other disciplines and put your learning into practice, whilst showcasing your expertise developed through the course.

Throughout your time on the course you will be afforded a range of opportunities that will enrich your learning and advance your skillset. This includes collaborations with big name broadcasters such as the BBC, and workshops and talks by award-winning professionals including Iki Ikram (VFX Artist, Last of Us, Uncharted) and Nick Wilkinson (Art Director, Game of Thrones).

The Department has a practical relationship with film related organisations such as the Bradford Film Office, UNESCO City of Film and the Working Academy placement agency. These close links provide our students with opportunities to engage on projects outside of the classroom and build up the practical experience needed to break into to film industry.
