Drawing on the skeletal collections and world-leading expertise at the School of Archaeological and Forensic Sciences, the MA explores social interpretation of remains.

Learners will have opportunities to explore a range of archaeological periods and regions, as well as focusing on evidence from mortuary archaeology. Modules will also enable the study of artefacts, exploring biographies of objects along with material properties.

The programme will equip you to critically-engage with a diverse range of material, as well as explore the sociopolicitical contexts of interpretations of the past and the role of the past in the present.

The MSc Physiology and Molecular Biology programme at Bradford is focussed on studying the cellular and molecular mechanisms that contribute to the function of organs and systems that underpin the integrated function and behaviour of the whole animal, both in health and in disease.

A particular focus of this programme is the underlying pathophysiological mechanisms that are responsible for a variety of prevalent human diseases. The objectives of the course are to provide an integrated, cross-disciplinary framework for the postgraduate study of development. This degree explores how archaeological techniques and the analysis of human remains are used in a forensic (medico-legal) context.

You will gain a full grounding in archaeological excavation, surveying and recording of crime scenes.

In addition, you will also learn about human anatomy and anthropological analysis of human remains, including age, sex, ancestry assessment and the analysis and interpretation of trauma.

Specialist modules will allow you to understand how scientific techniques are used to build up a biological profile of unidentified remains; processes of decomposition (and preservation) of human tissues and associated materials; trauma analysis; and forensic identification of living people.

You'll also gain an understanding of scientific principles and how data should be presented in a legal context.
