Physiology is the study of how living systems work. An understanding of how the body works and responds to everyday challenges is essential before determining what goes wrong in disease and developing new treatments and guidelines for managing health and wellbeing.

The MSc Physiology and Molecular Biology programme at Bradford is focussed on studying the cellular and molecular mechanisms that contribute to the function of organs and systems that underpin the integrated function and behaviour of the whole animal, both in health and in disease.

A particular focus of this programme is the underlying pathophysiological mechanisms that are responsible for a variety of prevalent human diseases. The programme uses this background knowledge to develop an understanding of the approaches being taken to develop the rationale for new therapeutic interventions and treatments for the future.

This three-year Virtual and Augmented Reality degree programme is one of the first of its kind in the UK.

The course has is part of Screen Yorkshire’s Connected Campus initiative and is carefully structured to equip students with the most up-to-date knowledge, skills and experience required by industry.

Guided by knowledgeable industry active staff such as Carlton Reeve (a consultant for commercial AR games) and Peter Chapman (who runs his own digital agency), you’ll learn advanced techniques such as:

This technically focused Master's programme provides you with the in-depth knowledge you need to:

You will practice by developing designs for real projects. In the design project module you will be guided throughout by our Industrial Royal Academy of Engineering visiting professor from Arup.

You’ll develop a critical grasp of the law and its political, social and economic contexts.

Our LLB programme is flexible in structure and has core first and second years including all seven law foundation subjects. This gives you the ability to switch to a more specialist LLB in the final year and tailor your study to a particular aspect of law by choosing options relating to criminal law, commercial law or social justice or choosing a range of options. By completing the foundation subjects early, this will also put you in a good position to obtain law work experience and placement opportunities and enhance your employability. This degree explores how archaeological techniques and the analysis of human remains are used in a forensic (medico-legal) context.

You will gain a full grounding in archaeological excavation, surveying and recording of crime scenes.

In addition, you will also learn about human anatomy and anthropological analysis of human remains, including age, sex, ancestry assessment and the analysis and interpretation of trauma.

Specialist modules will allow you to understand how scientific techniques are used to build up a biological profile of unidentified remains; processes of decomposition (and preservation) of human tissues and associated materials; trauma analysis; and forensic identification of living people.

You'll also gain an understanding of scientific principles and how data should be presented in a legal context.

Utilising industry standard facilities, technologies and software, under the supervision of a team of experienced and industry active lecturers, you will gain a solid grounding in:

The Department has a practical relationship with film related organisations such as the Bradford Film Office, UNESCO City of Film and the Working Academy placement agency. These close links provide our students with opportunities to engage on projects outside of the classroom and build up the practical experience needed to break into to film industry.

Civil Engineering is a highly important and ever-evolving profession, involving the design, construction, maintenance, operation and decommissioning of crucial infrastructure facilities, upon which modern life depends.

In recent years, the nature of civil engineering work has changed rapidly, with an increased interest in areas such as smart buildings and motorways, building information modelling and the use of sensors and robotics.

Nowadays, engineers require strong computational skills in addition to technical engineering knowledge, in order to provide suitable engineering solutions to meet the infrastructure needs of society.

This programme will equip you with a solid understanding of the applied computational tools in civil engineering, which can be applied to many real-life engineering problems. After graduating, you will have the skills and knowledge to operate in an increasingly digital world, to design, construct and manage complex infrastructures tackling the 21st Century challenges.

The programme is ideal for those with a civil engineering degree/background, who are interested in pursuing a career in digital civil engineering.

The programme is delivered jointly by the Department of Civil and Structural Engineering and the Department of Computer Science, where an emphasis is placed on providing a supportive environment that will equip students with the knowledge and learning skills to tackle the future challenges in industry.

This course will provide you with a systematic understanding of economic approaches to development and in particular, the role of finance and financial institutions. Students will be able to evaluate the merits of the various mechanisms of financing development and to understand the bases for financial policy.

During the course you will develop the skills required for the analysis of development issues, and to understand the interlinkages between statistics and econometrics, and develop expertise on international trade and exchange rate policies and related economic matters. Additionally, students have the opportunity to study a range of options covering project and programme management, public policy, and development policy.

The study of heritage is vital for understanding our sense of identity and place. Heritage has widespread meaning; past, present and future narratives are interwoven with both physical features (landscapes, buildings, structures, monuments and objects), and more intangible practices based on oral traditions and living memory that enliven and enrich cultural experience (stories, traditions, crafts, food, dance, music and poetry).

The programme will span local, regional and global heritage, investigating new methods, and the value of heritage and for contemporary society across many cultural contexts. The programme is at the forefront of initiatives that recognise the importance of heritage and culture to future social cohesion and economic success by building a meaningful understanding of our diverse pasts.

In addition to vocational skills, studying Heritage and Archaeology will give you a broad range of transferable skills including problem solving, team working, and independent research, preparing you for a wide variety of careers, future study and research.
