Our four-year MSci degree is similar to the BSc Pharmacology but gives you the opportunity to spend your third year gaining valuable experience of how pharmacology is related to the pharmaceutical and associated industries.

Placements are available by applying directly to providers in a competitive process facilitated by the University. Placements may be in major pharmaceutical companies and other health, biotech and research companies in the UK and abroad.

In your final year you will undertake additional advanced study instead of the research project.

The different groups involved in microelectronics research at the University of Bristol have many collaborative links with multinational companies in the microelectronics industry. These organisations have identified a shortfall in graduates with the necessary qualifications and professional skills to work in the sector, so this programme has been designed to meet this need.

A range of taught subjects cover core topics, such as digital and analogue ASIC design, DSP and FPGA-based computing, integrated sensors and actuators, radio-frequency and mixed-signal design. Changes are made periodically to reflect important emerging disciplines, such as electronics for the Internet of things, biomedical applications and quantum photonics applications.

The programme offers you the opportunity to learn from experts in microelectronics, nanoelectronics and computer science. You could move on to start working straight after your degree or continue your studies via a PhD. Our intensive, one-year, MSc Management with a specialism in International Business is for graduates from a wide range of subject backgrounds. This MSc will prepare you for a public health career in settings such as health services, government, research and the not-for-profit sector. You will gain core skills and knowledge that are applicable for public health work in the UK and internationally. These include critically appraising evidence, analysing and interpreting data, research methods, and applying methods to protect health, prevent ill-health and improve health services. The programme is suitable for students from clinical and non-clinical backgrounds.

The MSc covers the principles and practice of public health, health improvement, health protection, epidemiology and statistics, research methods and evaluation, health economics, ethics and healthcare services. This professionally accredited four-year course gives you the opportunity to study abroad for a year at one of our partner universities. It develops the attributes needed for a wide range of accounting, consulting and managerial career paths and aims to equip you, as a future organisational decision maker, with the ability to interpret, assess and communicate financial and non-financial data.

During the first two years you will develop sound knowledge and understanding of accounting practices, financial management techniques, and contemporary theories and practices of management. Your third year will be spent abroad, studying (in English) modules related to your degree.

You will return to Bristol for your final year to study the disciplines of accounting and management in more depth. Beyond the core units you can specialise by choosing from an evolving range of accounting and management units, for example Auditing, Financial Statement Analysis, Operations Management, or International Human Resource Management.

This course is available by transfer; you can apply to BSc Accounting and Management and register your interest to add a professional placement once you have joined us. Placement opportunities are based on first-year examination results and a successful application to a participating employer.

You can apply directly through UCAS or apply initially to BSc Accounting and Management and then apply to transfer in your second year. Places are allocated depending on first-year examination results and availability of spaces and subject areas at destination universities.

This course is ideal for students interested in learning more about how to analyse and use numerical data within criminology. It provides training in practical and analytical skills, which will enhance your career prospects and provide you with a strong platform for postgraduate study. No prior knowledge of statistical techniques is required.

About two thirds of your studies will follow the single honours BSc Criminology course, where you will acquire core knowledge in crime and justice. By drawing on social harm perspectives, criminology at Bristol examines conventionally defined crimes along with other problem activities or behaviours which may not be criminalised but which still cause extensive harm to individuals and society. This approach helps you to develop a critical and informed understanding of crime and the criminal justice system, as well as related social and economic questions.

The remaining third of your course will provide interdisciplinary training in quantitative methods. In year one of the quantitative pathway we discuss how numbers and data are used to tell convincing stories in the media and social research. We consider what is meant by segregation and how it can be mapped and measured. Year two offers practical classes in social statistics and applied data analysis, which will develop your skills in numeracy and analysis and enable you to undertake your own individual research project in an area of quantitative social science in year three.

This course offers you an opportunity to pursue a career in accounting, with the benefit of spending one year studying abroad. It provides access to subjects accredited by professional accountancy bodies, including the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA), the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW) and the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA). Alternatively, you may pursue a career in finance and investment banking through our outstanding finance-oriented courses.

This four-year course is underpinned by theory and practice. It aims to foster collaboration and creative thinking in the use of case studies. Places on the course are allocated on merit depending on first-year examination results and availability of spaces at destination universities.
