The MSc Data Analytics is designed to create rounded data analytics problem-solvers.

The course focuses on the uses of data analytics techniques within business contexts, making informed decisions about appropriate technology to extract knowledge from data and understanding the theoretical principles by which such technology operates.

You'll gain a comprehensive skill set that will enable you to work in a variety of sectors using a blended learning approach that combines theory, intensive practice and industrial engagement.

Every year, guest speakers attend our course, sharing their invaluable experiences. As part of the Data Analytics in Practice class, we host representatives from external originations, who present case studies and challenging projects to our students.

Studying history – the story of humanity through the ages – develops your knowledge of the past and gives you a better understanding of the present.

Throughout your studies, you'll receive excellent training in areas such as problem-solving, communication, research methods and interpretation.

Our classes cover some of the most important and interesting historical periods at home and abroad, including Scotland’s ‘Highland Problem’ in the 16thcentury, Slavery in World History and Cold War Europe, 1945-1991.

Education is essential if you wish to study initial teacher education courses. We offer you the chance to develop knowledge of the education systems of Scotland and beyond, looking at issues including policy, social justice, equity and inclusion.

Combining education with other subjects provides opportunities for those who wish to work in professions associated with education, but who don't wish necessarily to become teachers. Please note that this course doesn't allow you to qualify as a teacher, though joint honours Education graduates will be able to explore postgraduate routes into teaching careers (via the PGDE).

Our BA degrees in Humanities & Social Sciences are initially broad-based. In Year 1, you'll study three subjects, including your chosen subject(s).

There are a number of ways you can study law at Strathclyde, one such way being the BA degree in combination with another subject. Please note that studying law within the BA degree will not qualify you for entry to the legal profession. For professional qualifications in Law, students follow the LLB programme.

Following the recent global economic crisis, economics is more important and relevant than ever. Decisions on money, banking, interest rates, taxation and government spending affect us all, with global consequences.

Economics aims to understand the activities of the different agents in the economy – consumers, producers and the government – and how they all fit together.

Our degree will give you the ability to explain complex data in simple terms to different audiences. You’ll also develop excellent mathematical, statistical and problem-solving skills. Mathematics and Statistics make up at least half of the course.

Digital Health is one of the fastest growing economic sectors worldwide. It's creating jobs twice as fast as any other economic sector in Scotland and globally (Financial Times 2018).

Digital Health arises from the intersection of health and care services, information technology and mobile technology, and encompasses digital products and systems that can monitor, analyse, educate and improve health and care (Deloitte 2015). 

This one-year Master’s degree (also available part-time over 24 months) is the perfect conversion pathway for recent graduates looking to move into the health and care sector. It's also ideal for existing health and social care practitioners looking to up-skill in digital innovation.

Product design and innovation encompasses a variety of skills including an engineering theoretical understanding with marketing, branding, user experience, entrepreneurship and provides our graduates with all of the skills to successfully benefit both their own ventures or to become innovators within other businesses.

This is integrated with manufacturing processes, CAD, rapid prototyping and digital prototyping technologies, software and practical skills to turn the design into reality which is fundamental to global market success and requires not only customer appeal, aesthetics and brand awareness but also consistent and correct functionality, superior quality and fitness for purposes all at a competitive price.

• Our BSc Product Design and Innovation has been awarded academic accreditation from two institutes. This demonstrates the degree meets the UK Standard for Professional Engineering Competence (UK-SPEC) as outlined by the Accreditation of Higher Education Programmes (AHEP).

Mathematics is everywhere: weather forecasting, cash machines, secure websites, electronic games, liquid crystal displays, statistical data analysis.

We use statistics to explore and explain the world in which we live, such as in opinion polls and market research. However, it’s also important for manufacturing and testing many products, in particular showing that modern drugs are safe in treating humans.

Our course focuses on applying mathematics to solving practical problems.

Computers are an essential part of modern business and mathematics must often be formulated before the computer can be of use.

This degree will give you the skills to tackle problems in a business environment.

For those who are interested in pursuing a more research-focused option the MSc Applied Gender Studies can also be taken as a Research Methods route. This allows graduates to meet the criteria for ESRC funding, an important factor if you plan to go on to PhD study in the Social Sciences.

This innovative degree is a joint venture between the University of Strathclyde and three further education colleges - West College Scotland, Glasgow Clyde College and New College Lanarkshire.

The degree aims to prepare you for working in settings which combine health education and social work/social care. You’ll enter college at a Diploma of Higher Education level, having first studied a relevant HNC. You’ll then go on to Year 3 at Strathclyde to study for the BA.

The Education & Social Services (BA) responds to the Scottish Government’s aspiration for different services to communicate more effectively and to work in a more integrated way to meet the service-user needs of children, young people and adults. Biochemistry is the study of biological systems at molecular level. Biochemistry and the related field of molecular biology are important in understanding the molecular basis of life and its role in the disease process.

Microbiology is the study of the smallest living organisms (micro-organisms or microbes) and includes viruses, bacteria, fungi, algae and protozoa. Microbes are a major cause of disease in humans but they can also be useful in industrial processes from pollution control to the production of important therapeutic compounds.

The opportunity to choose specific degree combinations will allow you to go into specialist biomedical science areas such as neuroscience, cardiovascular research, immunopharmacology, industrial immunology, drug research, biochemistry, microbiology and bacteriology.
