There are a number of ways you can study law at Strathclyde, one such way being the BA degree in combination with another subject.

Law is concerned with the study of the obligations, duties and rights which every member of society has in relation to one another and to the state. Please note that studying law within the BA degree will not qualify you for entry to the legal profession. For professional qualifications in law, students follow the LLB programme.

The study of law is regarded not as purely vocational, but part of a broader education.

As a politics student, you'll look at the work of governments and their policies and study the behaviour of those who govern - and who they are governing - both at home and abroad. You'll also gain knowledge of domestic and international institutions and issues relating to conflict and cooperation.

We cover diverse and relevant issues, such as international terrorism to the 2014 Scottish Independence Referendum.

Politics graduates go on to work in a number of areas, with many pursuing academic research careers in the UK, Europe and North America.

This course was formerly known as LLM International Economic Law and launched in 2009. A key aim of the programme is to provide the knowledge base and intellectual and practical skills necessary to develop a career in the area of international commercial law.

You'll have the opportunity to pursue your own interests along with the flexibility to tailor your degree according to your career path. You'll also have the opportunity to attend seminars, guest lectures and other events relevant to your study throughout your LLM studies.

The MSc Entrepreneurial Innovation & Technology is a highly practical programme that will help budding entrepreneurs conceive and crystallise their ideas about their venture start-up or new business project. 

You'll learn how to combine theoretical knowledge with a special focus on developing the applied skills required to engage successfully in entrepreneurial activity. 

The focus of this programme is the Virtual Incubator Project, during which you will work in groups to take your business idea to the next level. You will develop an innovative business opportunity and pitch to a panel of investors from the UK ecosystem. 

By the end of the programme, you'll possess both the mindset and skills to 'think and act entrepreneurially'. You'll have the opportunity to engage with a dynamic innovation ecosystem through business competitions, guest lectures, knowledge exchange projects and field visits.

History

• Studying history – the story of humanity through the ages – develops your knowledge of the past and gives you a better understanding of the present.

• Pursuing the BA in Journalism, Media and Communication will engage you in useful learning in a broad professional context, which includes a critical understanding of the media industry, while acquiring technical and professional skills in journalism, communication, information design and management, and using them in the dynamic media market of Glasgow and beyond. It will also allow you to take a second subject, which will enhance your expertise and university experience even further.

The MSW in Social Work is a two-year, full-time postgraduate degree course.

The qualification is recognised throughout the UK and it’s expected, in due course, to meet the criteria for recognition in the EU and elsewhere overseas. The Masters in Social Work course is based on the Standards in Social Work Education (SiSWE) and is validated by social work's professional body in Scotland, the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC).

Social Policy examines the ways in which societies distribute resources and develop services to meet individual and social needs. Key social policy issues examined include poverty; economic, race, age and gender inequality; social justice health; education; criminal justice and housing.

It utilises a combination of qualitative and quantitative methods to improve our understanding of how societies organise their resources to meet individual and social needs and how they measure progress in these areas. 

This programme gives you the opportunity to learn more about the social and economic challenges facing Scottish society and place these in a broader international perspective. It draws on disciplines such as history, sociology, anthropology, economics, law, psychology, social anthropology and politics.
