This course combines rigorous research of global media products, content and technologies with the creative skills needed. You will take an interdisciplinary approach to develop an oversight of media, communication, culture, politics, power, business, marketing and creativity. It will deepen your understanding of these complex dynamics and practices, preparing you for a career in this fast-changing industry.

You will explore the role of ideas, beliefs and values in media production and consumption. You will also learn how media products and content enable us to communicate creatively and effectively across global markets and cultural borders. You will consider how media can inform new kinds of professional practice and anticipate future developments.

This course arms you, as an educational professional, with the knowledge and skills to identify problems of practice in educational settings and within the education system as a whole. To do this you will evaluate research and development within education, understanding the validity and applicability of these ideas by investigating them from a variety of perspectives.

Systems Engineering is an interdisciplinary approach that enables the realization of complex systems. Many complex engineering products (such as aerospace and automotive) involve a high level of integration and interaction across the mechanical, electronic, and software domains.

Systems Engineers analyze and design the behavior of these systems including active and intelligent software, which allows systems to detect and respond to changes. A Systems Engineer needs to understand the broader context of a system including people, processes, and information flow. The Systems Thinking approach that will be gained from this course equips engineers to work on holistic problems where there are conflicting needs and complex interactions.

Recent projects include the creating of a gesture detection system that recognizes British sign language and developing a systems model of iron storage in brain disease.

By choosing the MEng degree you can explore specialist areas of Systems Engineering through the fourth-year core and optional module choices and a group project.

Study abroad

You may choose to take an intercalated year in industry, research or study abroad between years two and three (BEng and MEng), or between years three and four (MEng only). If you choose to take an intercalated year, this will be reflected in your degree title, and add a year to your degree program.

As an MEng student, you may choose to take your third year as an exchange year at a partner university abroad, subject to academic requirements and approval of the study program.

It will also provide a detailed understanding of ancient visual and material culture to prepare you if you are aiming to enter a career in museums and curatorial work, or in education.

For the Visual and Material Culture of Ancient Rome MA, one module is taught by the British School, Rome, focusing on the history and material culture of Ancient Rome. Please note admission is subject to the discretion of the British Schools and cannot be guaranteed by Warwick.

Spanish is a world language with around 400 million speakers. Today, Spanish is one of the most important languages for commerce and cultural exchange.

We offer an innovative approach, combining the study of the Spanish language with the study of the diverse range of Hispanic cultures across Europe, the Caribbean, the Americas, and even aspects of Hispanic history in Africa and the Pacific.

Combining Hispanic Studies with film means you will graduate as a highly qualified linguist with advanced intercultural skills. You will gain an excellent knowledge of visual aesthetics, cinematic culture and narrative forms.

You will spend a 75% of your time on Hispanic Studies and 25% of your time focusing on Film Studies. Your second or third year will normally be spent abroad, consolidating and enhancing your learning.

Study abroad

We strongly recommend that you take a year abroad as part of your modern languages degree, if you are able to. If you are unable to take a year abroad you will move to a three-year. You will be required to complete further language reinforcement work. You will also be encouraged to spend time abroad in other ways, during vacation times.

You will usually spend your year abroad doing one of three things:

• Working as a language assistant teaching English in a primary or secondary school
• Studying full-time at a partner university in your chosen country
• On a work placement

The objective of Commercial Law is to facilitate commercial transactions, whether a sale of goods, dealing in digital content or data, secured financing arrangements, or mergers. Once a commercial transaction crosses jurisdictional borders, complex questions arise regarding the enforceability of all the terms in a commercial agreement, the law(s) which apply to the transaction, and where any disputes which might arise from the transaction can be resolved.

This LLM will provide you with a solid foundation for understanding the legal challenges of international commerce, and will allow you to explore how a range of international transactions are regulated through a combination of contracts, domestic law and internationally agreed rules.

On this unique degree we will encourage you to think independently as you work with experts from across the University. You will create critical responses to both problems in the contemporary world and problems in different times and places. The core modules on this course are led by tutors with a passion for liberal education. Using a Problem-Based Learning approach, these modules focus on investigating issues from different disciplinary perspectives. If you want to broaden your perspective by studying overseas, we can support you to apply for a year's study abroad. You will also have the option to complete a year-long work placement. Students are automatically enrolled on the three-year course. You will have the option to change to a four-year course with an intercalated year in the third year. The intercalated year spent studying abroad or on work placement is subject to departmental academic requirements.

Engineering companies need to provide not only superior products, but also superior services to be sustainable in the long-term. There is a real demand for graduates with technical knowledge and strategic business management and entrepreneurship skills. By mastering this you will provide the key interface between roles as diverse as design, manufacturing, marketing, contract management and supply chain management.

In the same way as other Engineering undergraduates, those studying Engineering Business Management will develop an in-depth understanding of the classical principles of Engineering by following a general engineering programme for the first four terms. Thereafter, Engineering Business Management students will specialise in engineering business-related subjects, equipping students with the business and management skills they need to operate in a global economy.
