This course will help you to better understand the theories, practicalities and significance of educational issues, whilst also enabling you to develop an appreciation for the role that research plays in illuminating these.

This course will provide you with a broad set of skills which have wide application. You will learn the methodologies, tools, principles, and philosophies to effectively contribute to the development and management of small- and large-scale projects, multiple projects, and programmes. Alongside this, you will gain practical experience through applied syndicate activities and current case studies.  

You will develop a methodical approach to the management of financial aspects of projects and programmes and will learn about the strategic management of people in organisations and how this relates to the wider business strategy.

The MSc in Biomedical Engineering delivers advanced modules informed by the active research expertise and industrial links of our academic staff.

The course prepares students for careers in advanced biomedical engineering. This includes biomedical engineering research institutions, medical device manufacturing, agencies for health technology assessment and medical device regulatory affairs, and clearly hospitals, where biomedical engineers oversee medical device clinical trials, purchasing and maintenance as responsible for clinical engineering services.

The Warwick Biomedical Engineering MSc spans the whole School of Engineering incorporating predictive modelling, medical device design, health technology assessment, signal processing, electronics, communication, software, hardware, systems thinking and machine intelligence.

Warwick has a unique systems approach to research and teaching and so modules are developed across disciplines in parallel to our research. This approach culminates in a group design project in which you will design a medical device. This, in the past two years included, a defibrillator, a pulmonary ventilator, an ECGph and wearable devices for SpO2 monitoring. Beyond that, you will be assigned an in-depth individual project which will allow you to work closely with an academic on state-of-the art biomedical engineering research and innovation, often linked with industry.

If you have a talent for mathematics and a passion for technology, this exciting, accredited course will enable you to acquire technical skills in software engineering, algorithm analysis and system design, as well as experience of project management, research and scientific methods.

As one of the most established courses in the UK, our focus is on the principles and underpinnings of computer science, an understanding of which will give you the ability to adapt to change and new developments throughout your career.

In short, while we teach using many of the latest technologies, our emphasis on fundamentals will prepare you to engage with any technology. You will work closely with industry leaders, enabling you to develop industrially relevant subject knowledge and transferable skills, such as teamwork, communication and planning. In your third year, you will undertake an individual project, where you will apply your knowledge to an area of your choice under the supervision of world-leading academics.

The course is taught from first principles, which means you do not need prior knowledge of computer science or programming before you arrive. Our only requirements are that you have a strong background in mathematics and the desire to succeed, we will support you through our commitment to teaching excellence and a stimulating academic community.

You may choose to spend a year in industry, research, or study abroad between Years Two and Three of your degree. If you choose to study abroad or take a year in industry, this will be reflected in your degree title.

Study abroad

You can apply to spend a year studying at one of our partner institutions overseas between Years Two and Three of your degree.

We have an established exchange programme with the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, which provides opportunities for our students to experience teaching and learning at another world leading institution.

In addition to benefitting from a rich cultural experience, students returning from studying overseas exhibit an international profile that is attractive to potential employers.

This joint honours degree is split 50:50 between Modern Languages and Linguistics. The degree will enable you to gain expertise in one or two languages while exploring the social contexts of language as well as how language is acquired.

You can choose one of two different routes on this degree:

• On route one (one language), you specialise in one language and culture.
• On route two (two languages) you focus on two major languages. Both routes enable you to spend half your time studying in the Centre for Applied Linguistics.

On route one you can choose your major language from: French, German, Italian or Spanish. This route enables you to select cultural modules focused on your major language and/or selected from the wide range of cultural options offered within the School.

On route two you choose one language from: French, German, Italian or Spanish. Your second language will be selected from: Arabic, Chinese, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Russian or Spanish.

On both routes, you will normally spend your second or third year abroad, consolidating and enhancing your learning. If you are taking two languages, you can split the year between your languages.

Study abroad

We strongly recommend that you take a year abroad as part of your modern languages degree, if you are able to. If you are unable to take a year abroad you may move to a three-year degree. In such cases, you will be required to complete further language reinforcement work. You will also be encouraged to spend time abroad in other ways, during vacation times.

You will usually spend your year abroad doing one of three things:

• Working as a language assistant teaching English in a primary or secondary school
• Studying full-time at a partner university in your chosen country
• On a work placement

This MA programme explores religious, social, economic and cultural developments in the early modern world, including the strains created by soaring prices and population, and heightened social mobility. Most modules are taught by a team of experts, ensuring that you are exposed to as many different viewpoints and approaches as possible.

In the first term you will study two core modules. ‘Theory, Skills and Methods’ provides a foundation in historical methods and theoretical frameworks used to study society and culture from the early modern period to the contemporary world. ‘Themes in Early Modern History’ provides a critical perspective on key themes and introduces you to a range of expertise at Warwick.

In the second term, you will select two optional modules, each one taking a different topic and exploring it across time and space. These will help you place your early modern interests in religion, gender, empire, consumption or medicine in a comparative framework, as well as deepen your acquaintance with relevant ideas and approaches from outside early modern scholarship. These modules enable you to focus on your early modern interests (you can write all your assessed work on early modern themes) whilst situating them in a wider context that will enrich your studies.

The final key element is the dissertation - here you have a large amount of freedom to develop a project of your own choice with help and guidance from your supervisor who will meet with you throughout the third term. Throughout the year, you will be able to take advantage of the Department’s six research centres, including participating in the lively schedule of academic research seminars, lectures and conferences.

The programme will appeal equally to those wishing to undertake further postgraduate study and those pursuing a career outside of the University, equipping you with research, writing and critical thinking skills vital in a range of professions.

This degree studies the political world, with an emphasis on the Italian language and culture. This joint honors degree gives you the opportunity to acquire Italian language skills while receiving thorough training in the study of Politics and International Studies.

It is split 50:50 between Politics and International Studies and Italian with the option of a 75:25 split in either discipline in the final year. You will critically engage with the political world from national and global perspectives, exploring the theoretical and empirical approaches to political ideas. At the same time you will deepen your understanding of the Italian language and culture and its relationship to Europe and the rest of the world.

The second or third year is spent studying or on a work placement in Italy.

Our exciting MSc in Economics and International Financial Economics is designed to link economic theory and empirical economics with the practice of international finance.

The course will provide you with a thorough grounding in advanced core areas of microeconomic and macroeconomic theory, econometrics and research methods, plus the opportunity to specialise in international financial economics, engaging in contemporary theoretical and empirical debates.

You will be automatically enrolled on a pre-sessional Mathematics and Statistics programme to equip you with the relevant methodological skills you need to succeed. This innovative course in the growing area of decision science and behavioural economics combines multidisciplinary expertise from the Department of Psychology, Department of Economics and Warwick Business School (WBS). The course emphasises both theoretical foundations and real-world application of core and advanced areas of behavioural economics, and the cognitive science of judgement and decision making. The Science Track variation of the course is designed for students with a first degree in a science-based subject, such as Psychology, Maths, Biology, etc. or a subject with a strong quantitative element, such as Business, Finance, etc.

A variation of the course is offered by the Department of Economics and is available if you have a first degree in Economics.
