Study abroad

This course features an integral year abroad, in which you will study approved law modules at one of our partner universities. We have links with overseas universities in many exciting parts of the world and past students have spent a year in Germany, Canada, Brazil, Australia, Singapore, the Netherlands, Hungary, Italy or Hong Kong.

This course is designed for technically-minded graduates with a background in computer science, mathematics or the physical sciences.

It provides a distinctive perspective on data analytics that combines aspects of computer science, business, engineering and mathematics. Alongside the technical skills and expertise the course develops, this means that our graduates can pursue opportunities at the forefront of an emerging discipline that will continue to revolutionise science and industry for years to come.

Our Biological Sciences course spans the entire scale of biological systems, from molecules to ecosystems. Our exceptionally wide range of options allow you to choose modules that are best suited to your interests and career ambitions.

You will be exposed to cutting-edge research in molecular, cellular and whole organism biology, while covering applications of science to major global challenges such as environmental management, food security and human health.

This joint degree gives you an in-depth knowledge of Italian language and culture while developing your ability as an analyst of international economic phenomena.

The Italian side of your degree will extend your understanding of the language, literature, culture, history, society and politics of Italy.

In Economics, you will study the choices of consumers, corporations, governments, networks and nations, developing a deep knowledge of global and local economic trends, institutions and policies. You will normally spend your second or third year abroad, consolidating and enhancing your learning.

Study abroad

We strongly recommend that you take a year abroad as part of your modern languages degree, if you are able to. If you are unable to take a year abroad you may move to a three-year degree. In such cases, you will be required to complete further language reinforcement work. You will also be encouraged to spend time abroad in other ways, during vacation times.

You will usually spend your year abroad doing one of three things:

• Working as a language assistant teaching English in a primary or secondary school
• Studying full-time at a partner university in your chosen country
• On a work placement

Most students going to Italy opt for an exchange at a partner university. Some are successful in obtaining a (highly competitive) language assistantship. Most students apply through the British Council's English Language Assistant scheme during the first term of their second year at Warwick.

By studying linguistics together with German, you will explore the fascinating human capacity for language, while also building your fluency in German. As a linguist, you will learn about the structure and function of language, and about relationships between language and society.

You will also study and practice written and oral communication in German, and learn broadly about communicating across languages and cultures. Your skills in linguistic analysis will support your language learning, and your knowledge of German will complement your work as a linguist. This course opens many career opportunities that require the knowledge and skills of both a modern language and a deep understanding of language, culture and communication.

(75% linguistics, 25% German).

Study abroad

If you wish to spend a year abroad (which we thoroughly recommend), this will take place in your third year, meaning that you will complete your degree in four years instead of three. All students have the opportunity to apply for an intercalated year abroad at one of our partner universities. The Student Mobility Team offers support for these activities, and the Department's dedicated Study Abroad Co-ordinator can provide more specific information and assistance.

This is the only Renaissance MA in the UK to offer students the opportunity to spend a full term in Venice. Instruction is in English, and you will be able to take Italian language classes.

This MA covers the period c.1300-c.1650 across Europe. It provides a foundation in the art, history, literature, philosophy, religion and science of the period, exploring their interconnections with the social and political context.

Strongly interdisciplinary, it is taught by academics drawn from the Departments of Classics, English, History, History of Art, and from the School of Modern Languages and Cultures.

Why is wealth distributed unequally throughout the world? How has the movement of people, resources, capital, and ideas shaped the global challenges of today’s world? What role did the colonial empires play in this? To study History and GSD is to ask these questions.

You will investigate and interpret the past, focusing your interests on Early Modern (between 1500 and 1750) and Modern history (1750 onwards). Meanwhile, you will apply the skills and content of your historical analysis to the present-day challenges of climate change, social justice, and food security.

This transdisciplinary approach encourages you to consider issues from a diverse array of perspectives, to think creatively and to embrace new opinions from your peers.

You can enhance your skills and studies through optional work placements, study abroad, and certificates.

The MSc in Economics and Health Economics is for graduates in Economics who would like to advance their knowledge and specialise in Health Economics through a postgraduate-level degree. Students will gain a thorough grounding in advanced core areas of microeconomics and econometrics, and will have the opportunity to understand how economic theory and methods can be employed to offer solutions to issues and debates around health and health care provision. An 8,000-word dissertation provides an opportunity to explore your own interests across these fields of study.
