The primary focus of the Master of Arts in Communication Studies program is to provide the fundamentals of communication theories and enable students to acquire the ability to understand and use basic methods of communication research.
The curriculum focuses on personal relationships, the small group, our society, dynamics of interpersonal communication, persuasion, health communication, intercultural communication, organizational authority and efficiency, the impact of social movements, the history of rhetoric, and family communications.

The Master of Engineering Management (MEM) program, a one-year master’s degree plan consisting of 30 semester credit hours, is designed for all engineers on management career paths as well as for those charged with managing technology in engineering, manufacturing, and other high-tech organizations. The MEM degree program will also benefit engineers pursuing licensure in states where candidates for professional licensure are required to have an additional 30 semester credit hours of coursework beyond the bachelor’s degree or a master’s degree in engineering. The curriculum consists of courses offered by the A-State College of Engineering and Computer Science.

Due to the flexible scheduling of our courses, the program accommodates working professionals seeking career advancement and/or career changes as well as recent graduates desiring to move into positions with management responsibility.

Program Outcomes
Program graduates will have:

• Graduates of the Master of Engineering Management program will be able to identify critical issues, formulate realistic solutions, evaluate alternatives, and solve technical problems.
• Graduates of the Master of Engineering Management program will be able to interpret statistical or deterministic models and concepts as well as apply them to technical problems.
• Graduates of the Master of Engineering Management program will be able to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, to express alternatives and solutions dealing with technical problems.
• Graduates of the Master of Engineering Management program will be able to function effectively as a member or leader on a technical team.

The Arkansas State University MBA Program is a professional degree program designed to prepare students of all educational and professional backgrounds for management positions in all types of organizations. As such, the program stresses the development of analytical, problem-solving and decision making competencies for the dynamic, complex global organizational and social environments.

International Business - Concentration
The MBA with Concentration in IB program is designed to allow graduate business students the ability to select in-depth coverage of the core components of today's IB ?eld while furthering their business administration academic career. Students will complete the 27 hours within the MBA core and 9 additional hours of graduate level IB coursework.

The B.S. degree in Sport Management is designed to prepare future professionals the needed knowledge, skills and experiences interested in careers in intercollegiate and professional athletics organizations, sport facility management (arenas/stadiums), campus and community recreation programs, sports information/public relations, sport marketing and management agencies, sport news media, and sport merchandise. This is a fast-paced, challenging, highly regarded, behind-the-scenes, managerial, professional field that requires students to have the academic background, management experience, communication abilities, and leadership qualities to be successful.

Management Information Systems - Concentration
The MBA with Concentration in MIS program is designed to allow graduate business students the ability to select in-depth coverage of the core components of today’s IT ?eld while furthering their business administration academic career. Students will complete the 27 hours within the MBA core (which includes two graduate level MIS course) and 9 additional hours of graduate level MIS coursework.

Students seeking admission into the Master of Science degree program in Statistics, must meet the admission requirements of Graduate Admissions and the specific program requirements. Students may not take 6000-level courses for credit until all undergraduate deficiencies have been removed.

As an interdisciplinary degree with content focused on life science, this program is amenable for those in teaching, medical technology, nursing, museum curatorial and other professions.
Advising committees are formed to assist students in developing a program tailored to their long term professional goals and interests.

The B.A. in English is the quintessential Liberal Arts Degree. English B.A. graduates are likely to be seen anywhere -- sitting in a law school class; reading in a coffee shop on the campus where they teach English; working in a government office; working as a technical writer trying to rephrase something from computer-speak to ordinary English ; or preparing for the ministry in a seminary. The Molecular Biosciences degree programs encompasses the areas of biotechnology, cell biology, computational biology, immunology, food safety, neurobiology, regulation of gene expression, signal transduction and cellular metabolism, and structural biology.

The program emphasizes interdisciplinary approaches, state-of-the-art technologies and innovation that allow students the opportunities to engage in research in genomic, proteomic, cellular, and organ-based systems for the purpose of translating this knowledge into applications benefitting society in fields ranging from agriculture to medicine, from forensics to environmental sciences, from food sciences to renewable energy.

The Bachelor of Science in Health Studies degree serves a three-fold purpose for students that are:

• Planning to seek employment in a health or health related area upon graduation;
• Desiring a bachelor’s degree following an associate’s degree in health disciplines and
• Planning a health career that requires a post-baccalaureate plan of study.

This degree does not lead to a professional credential or state licensure. It does prepare students for roles in community health, support services, health care navigation, claims services, medical sales and patient services. Online certification is available in some areas such as compliance officer, health advocate and coding specialist.

Prerequisites

• Professional Track - The Professional Track requires students to have an Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree in an allied health related field (e.g., Physical Therapist Assistant, Clinical Laboratory, Nursing).
• Non-Professional Track - The Non-Professional Track does not require students to hold an AAS degree
