The Arkansas State University MBA Program is a professional degree program designed to prepare students of all educational and professional backgrounds for management positions in all types of organizations. As such, the program stresses the development of analytical, problem-solving and decision making competencies for the dynamic, complex global organizational and social environments.

Marketing - Concentration
The MBA with a Concentration in Marketing program is designed to allow students to complement their studies in business administration with in-depth coverage of the core components of marketing theory as applied in today’s marketing environment. Students will complete the 27 hours within the MBA core (which includes one graduate level marketing course) and 9 additional hours of graduate level marketing coursework.

The Master of Music Degree in Performance is a 30-hour program with advanced study in instrumental, vocal, or keyboard performance, piano performance and pedagogy, or instrumental or choral conducting, culminating in a graduate recital.  Instruction is provided by faculty members who are recognized as outstanding performers in a wide variety of performance areas.  The Department of Music entrance examinations in music history, music theory, and ear training assist in planning each student’s exact course of study.

The major in business administration provides students with a diversified rather than a specialized program in business and economics. It is designed especially for those who need a broad background of training for managing a business of their own or for students planning to enter a large business which maintains its own specialized training program. This program requires a study of every major sector of business activity, with emphasis on creative thinking which will prepare the student for today's employment as well as for meeting tomorrow's challenges.

The Department of Art at Arkansas State University will provide an educational environment that fosters the creation and understanding of art. Students in art develop insight, sensitivity, and perception toward all aspects of nature while building individual expressive responses. Aesthetic and functional values, creative ideas, and media skills are developed through instructional guidance and applied experience in the studio and classroom.

Learning Outside the Classroom
Some of the courses may involve field trips to Memphis Brooks Museum, The Arkansas Arts Center in Little Rock, or other regional art collections. Arkansas State University is an Accredited Institutional member of the National Association of Schools of Art and Design.

Why the BFA?
The Bachelor of Fine Arts degree programs are designed to prepare students for professional careers as a classroom art teacher, graphic designer, or studio artist. The BFA in Art (with emphasis in Studio Art or Art Education) is the initial professional degree, and it is the requisite degree for the student who plans to pursue a studio-oriented post-baccalaureate degree

The Department of Psychology and Counseling is committed to serving the university, the profession, and the public by contributing to excellence in  education, high professional standards for service delivery, and consumer advocacy. The department is also committed to research and scholarly activities to expand the academic knowledge base and to improve the quality of professional services.

The primary mission of the department is to teach basic principles underlying psychology as a behavioral science and to prepare graduate-level students to become psychological-counseling professional service providers.

As an interdisciplinary degree with content focused on life science, this program is amenable for those in teaching, medical technology, nursing, museum curatorial and other professions.
Advising committees are formed to assist students in developing a program tailored to their long term professional goals and interests.

The program offers classroom instruction on concepts and theory, integrated with intensive laboratory experience focusing on techniques and communication skills required for professional biotechnologists. It is an interdisciplinary program composed consists of 36 academic credits, including two intensive laboratory methods courses and a directed professional internship.

The internships consist of a minimum of 300 laboratory hours in an industry or government laboratory research agency  and focus on intensive training. Students are required to compose a PowerPoint presentation and a professional portfolio illustrating accomplishments achieved during their internship experiences.

The primary focus of the Master of Arts in Communication Studies program is to provide the fundamentals of communication theories and enable students to acquire the ability to understand and use basic methods of communication research.
The curriculum focuses on personal relationships, the small group, our society, dynamics of interpersonal communication, persuasion, health communication, intercultural communication, organizational authority and efficiency, the impact of social movements, the history of rhetoric, and family communications.

The Arkansas State University MAcc Program is a professional degree program designed to prepare students for careers in accounting and related fields. This program prepares students for advancement beyond entry-level positions, and provides an excellent avenue to obtaining the 150 credit hours required to sit for the CPA exam.

For students with an undergraduate accounting degree from an U.S. AACSB accredited university, the program usually requires 30 hours of course work. Students holding an undergraduate business degree in another field from an AACSB accredited university are required to take the accounting prerequisites.
