In order to meet the diverse needs of congregations, you will gain a wide range of skills through completion of a theology major and two minors. Your first minor, Church Ministries, includes a specialization chosen from six areas of church ministry. These include: Evangelism, Missions, Parish Teaching, Youth Ministry, Christian Service Learning & Leadership, and Social Ministry (for men) or Pre-Deaconess (for women intending to enroll in the deaconess programs at either of the LCMS seminaries). Your second minor is Nonprofit Management. For those of you who really want to specialize in more than one area of church ministry, it’s possible to do so by carefully choosing electives that apply.

While all courses and doctrine are taught in accord with the Lutheran confessions, men and women of any denomination are welcome to join this program. Only members of The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod will be certified and may be eligible to be rostered with the LCMS as a “Minister of Religion Commissioned—Director of Church Ministries (DCM).”

Computer scientists are instrumental to anything and everything that involves computers. And let’s be honest, pretty much everything today involves computers. Robotics, virtual reality, and videogames are often cited as future job areas, but you could also be a part of many other fields—animation, music, automobiles, analytics…the list goes on.

What comes to mind when you think of computer science? In our modern world, there are decreasingly fewer things that don't rely on computers and technology in some shape or form, making computer science one of the most practical and versatile fields of study out there. At Concordia, we define computer science as solving problems using technology. If you can learn to create and manage technology solutions, you can apply your skills to just about any career path.

With five different concentrations available and substantial flexibility in electives, you have the power to customize this degree and make it your own. In this program, you'll receive a well-rounded education through the Concordia Core, as well as a firm foundation of computer science knowledge through our Technology Core. You'll learn the ins and outs of hardware, software, operating systems, databases, coding, and user interfaces. From there, you can branch out into one or more concentrations of computer science, specializing in the areas that are of most interest to you. You can use your electives to earn multiple concentrations, or to explore coursework in any other field at Concordia, broadening your knowledge base.

If you are ready to have a positive impact in your community and the world—perhaps a degree in public service is the right fit. You emerge with analytical skills, critical thinking skills, and go on to practice in organizations fostering service and commitment to serve local, national and international organizations.

This program is designed specifically for students who want to engage in serious theological discussion, and who are not also pursuing an Education or Director of Church Ministries degree.

In this program, you’ll have the opportunity to study the structure of Christian belief and practice. You’ll dive into God’s Word as well as respected Lutheran doctrinal texts to properly frame your thoughts and perspectives before exploring the cultural, political, and theological implications of God’s Word on your daily life. In short, this program is for anyone with an earnest desire to better understand and grapple with God’s message of salvation so that you can communicate it with confidence and zeal for the benefit of the Kingdom.

When you take the opportunity to enhance your writing, you are setting yourself apart in the business world. There’s a lot that goes into the making of a good writer, and an MBA in Communications and Public Relations hits all the major topics: group dynamics, effective business writing, public relations, and public speaking. Additionally, you gain the benefit of having worldwide practitioners as your instructors, with a diverse student body and flexible courses that start at your convenience. You’ll sharpen your skills and become a confident, effective communicator that will stand out in the workforce.

At the end of this program, you’ll not only hone your communication skills and increase your understanding of the field, but you’ll also come out with experience applying today’s critical innovative business skills. You’ll be able to identify messages worth sharing, think strategically about your decisions, increase your financial competence, and be a leader among your colleagues. Whether you’re pitching a story to the media, presenting a new slogan, or reporting on analytics, you’ll know what to say and how to say it.

The Biblical Studies program lays out a good foundation for further work not only in the LCMS but for all Christian denominations. This program offers classes that all Christian students can be prepared for church work or simply because they want to know more about the Bible and the God who is revealed in it. At the same time, this is a great program for Lutheran students who want to focus on the Bible itself.

With this program, students will explain and analyze the basic tenets of the Christian faith and will apply the Christian worldview and doctrines to current situations (personal, professional, and societal) and to historical problems and situations.

Biblical Studies graduates can expect to:

• Develop an understanding of the origin of the Bible, recognize the unique qualities of God's word, appreciate the varied yet unified content of the Old and New Testaments, and use sound principles in interpreting Scripture.
• Recognize the Bible as the authoritative source for knowledge of God and humankind, articulate key doctrines of the Christian faith, especially the gospel of Jesus Christ, and apply the teachings of Scripture to the life of the individual.
• Develop an appreciation for how God has worked in history, recognize key figures and movements in the life of the Church, and identify the state of theology today.
• Grow in their relationship with Christ and put His teachings into practice in their vocations.
• Observe, assess, and interpret today's cultures and world views. Students will be familiar with various methods of delivering and defending biblical truth in a relevant and practical way to diverse groups.
• Demonstrate an understanding of research skills in the discipline.

The MPD Pharmaceutical program will provide the additional education and hands-on training that science majors need to secure jobs in the pharmaceutical product development industries; accordingly classes are taught in an applied manner.

Program highlights:

• You’ll learn how to develop assays to test potential new API’s, test solubility of lead compounds, develop formulations, or study the stability of compounds of interest
• Individual product development projects partner you with an industry expert to build on existing
• ideas or cultivate the student’s own original designs
• Classes incorporate sustainability concepts, emphasizing optimization of the triple bottom line—people, profit, plant
• Curriculum blends technical skills with business strategy, market analysis, regulatory/compliance (FDA, ISO), and legal considerations (patent, licensing)

You’ll apprentice with industry partners and learn in state-of-the-art analytical and pilot-scale labs (like the new hybrid classroom/cGMP lab on the Innovation Campus). In addition, you’ll be able to take advantage of networking and collaboration opportunities provided by the Interprofessional Education (IPE) program.

We’re here to teach you the skills you’ll need to pursue a career in pharmaceutical product development. While pursuing your MPD degree at CUW, you’ll get to:

The bachelor’s degree in interior architecture and design is a cooperative program with MIAD (Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design). To quote MIAD’s program description, “Our interior architecture and design program is built on the premise that spaces and their furnishings can affect people in deep, meaningful ways.” In this program, you’ll get to experience the Christian liberal arts perspective of Concordia while pursuing a rigorous design program at MIAD. You’ll combine theory and practice to solve visual and spatial problems in the classroom and with real-world clients.

During your time here, you’ll take the majority of your classes (including the Liberal Arts Core, the majority of your major, and your minor) right on the CUW campus. You’ll go to MIAD for the remaining 24 credits (six credits per semester over the course of two years). Many graduates have also paired this major with a complementary minor in business, entrepreneurship, or art to further their abilities and career endeavors.
When you graduate with a degree in interior architecture and design, you’ll have a deep understanding of color and media dynamics, 3-D modeling, and computer-aided design (CAD) drawing. You’ll have as strong foundation in the liberal arts (including history, english, communication, and the social sciences) with hands-on experience working with clients. You’ll even complete a senior portfolio to show the work you’ve done during your time here. Whether you go on to work as an interior designer, a facility planner or a model builder, you’ll have the foundation and skillset you need to build a future in interior architecture and design.

As part of the MBA in Finance program,  you’ll learn from current industry professionals – worldwide practitioner instructors – who are dedicated to leading others in their field of expertise. You’ll gain the tools necessary to make a powerful impact in a wide variety of positions within business. With an MBA in Finance, you’ll develop the skillset to make important decisions based on financial analysis and strategic thinking. Concordia’s MBA in Management Information Systems will provide you with in-depth knowledge of database modeling, design and implementation. You’ll gain experience in implementing a database design by creating a physical database using the Oracle Application Express tool and SQL - and you’ll have the ability to sit for the Oracle Database SQL Expert exam. You’ll also learn from experienced professors who will help you understand decision support systems (DSS) on topics like data mining, data warehousing architectures, expert systems, artificial intelligence systems and executive information systems.

Our MBA program is designed for working professionals, which means that you can get your degree in two years - while still working full-time. With an MBA in Management Information Systems, you’ll have the skillset and knowledge to lead diverse groups of people in the IT field. Not only will you be prepared to manage IT departments, you’ll also come out of the program with increased financial competence, today’s innovative business skills, and the ability to more clearly and concisely communicate your message.
