Let’s talk about the long term. Upon graduation you’ll have acquired the skills and knowledge and a year of practice experience to immediately enter into generalist professional practice. So, how do you get there? Everything that you learn will be centered around the Council on Social Work Education’s (CSWE) nine competencies. The primary mission of the CUW social work program is to prepare graduates for baccalaureate level, generalist, social work practice, within the context of faith, service and social justice.  To fulfill this mission, the CUW Social Work program is based on CSWE’s nine competencies:

Whether you’re studying non-living systems in physical science, examining the natural processes of our planet in environmental science, or dive into learning more about life and living organisms in biology, a broadfield science education degree will prepare you to teach any science class. In addition to this degree, you can select to do a physical science or biology/environmental science emphasis. physical science allows you to teach upper level courses in chemistry while the biology emphasis allows you to teach upper level biology.

Students who desire licensure in another state must contact their state department of education for details about whether or not this coursework will meet state requirements. 

It is by far the most important skill professionals have in the business world - the ability to communicate clearly, concisely, and accurately. Ironically, it is also the most widely overlooked and underestimated. Give yourself an advantage and pursue a degree in business communication. You’ll build the skills and techniques that can help your organization promote its goals, products, and services.

People think just because they communicate daily – both verbally and in written form – they don’t need to spend the time it takes to truly become adept at communicating. But even naturally gifted communicators can benefit from this program. During your time here, you’ll have the opportunity to study topics such as: public relations and press releases; group dynamics; leadership communication; interviewing strategies; conflict management skills; servant leadership; public speaking; social media theory and history; cross-cultural communication, and more. You’ll also have internship opportunities that will give you real-world experience to bring to your future workplace. Becoming a strong communicator is one of the best ways to ensure that you make a big impact in the world of business.

At the end of this program, you will not only be a stronger communicator, but also a better leader. You’ll know how to work with diverse groups, identify key messages worth sharing, and lead others by example. You’ll join the workforce with the hands-on experience needed to deliver your message -whether you’re communicating in the office, with friends and family, or to the media.

The bachelor’s degree in interior architecture and design is a cooperative program with MIAD (Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design). To quote MIAD’s program description, “Our interior architecture and design program is built on the premise that spaces and their furnishings can affect people in deep, meaningful ways.” In this program, you’ll get to experience the Christian liberal arts perspective of Concordia while pursuing a rigorous design program at MIAD. You’ll combine theory and practice to solve visual and spatial problems in the classroom and with real-world clients.

During your time here, you’ll take the majority of your classes (including the Liberal Arts Core, the majority of your major, and your minor) right on the CUW campus. You’ll go to MIAD for the remaining 24 credits (six credits per semester over the course of two years). Many graduates have also paired this major with a complementary minor in business, entrepreneurship, or art to further their abilities and career endeavors.
When you graduate with a degree in interior architecture and design, you’ll have a deep understanding of color and media dynamics, 3-D modeling, and computer-aided design (CAD) drawing. You’ll have as strong foundation in the liberal arts (including history, english, communication, and the social sciences) with hands-on experience working with clients. You’ll even complete a senior portfolio to show the work you’ve done during your time here. Whether you go on to work as an interior designer, a facility planner or a model builder, you’ll have the foundation and skillset you need to build a future in interior architecture and design.

Study how to create complex hardware and software systems, manage complex computer information systems (IT), and lead a technical team. Now offering two new tracks in Software Engineering and Computer Information Systems. Both of these tracks will build on your existing experience by deepening your skills and knowledge in the main areas of computer science. A bachelor's degree in a related field is recommended, but not required. Optional catch-up modules are available for each course to help bring you up to speed.

Upon completion of the MSCS program, you’ll be trained in problem solving, collaboration, creative design processes, professional literature, writing, presentation, and ethical practices. You’ll be prepared for advanced professional positions in software development and other technical/design-oriented roles in computing.

Our computer science master's program was designed with working professionals in mind. You’ll get a rigorous, quality education that fits within your busy schedule. All courses will be available online in an accelerated eight week format, but three courses per semester will be offered face-to-face on campus.

Information Systems

While software engineering focuses on the development of technology solutions, information systems puts a greater emphasis on the application and management of technology solutions. The specialization courses explore advanced networking, hardware and software system design, integration, and administration in the context of current emerging technologies.

The inter-related sports and entertainment industries show no signs of slowing down. The North American sports market alone will grow from $63.9 billion to $75.7 billion by 2020, according to PricewaterhouseCoopers. But that’s nothing compared to the global market. In 2016, the size of the sports industry was a whopping $1.3 trillion worldwide! So needless to say, there’s a demand for people with a degree in sport and entertainment business. Housed within the Batterman School of Business, our program let’s you pursue a variety of careers in athletic and entertainment management. Our curriculum is current, engaging, and challenging – with courses and experiences designed under the guidance of a professional advisory board consisting of industry practitioners – to help you develop the fundamentals, skills, and character that will give you the best chance to thrive in a competitive industry.

Not only that, but you’ll work with industry pros, networking with and learning from experts in professional and amature sports and entertainment, along with business people who work within the innumerable sub-professions tied to these industries. But nothing beats hands-on experience. If you display consistent professional and personal growth, you could earn intensive field experience opportunities at major events like the Rose Bowl, Final Four, Frozen Four, College World Series, COPA, and even the Super Bowl. That’s what we like to call a win/win.
It might be beneficial to first take a quick look at what to expect in this program: grueling two-a-days, endless ladders, extensive weight training … heck, you don’t even have to break a sweat earning this degree. Which isn’t to say the program is easy. Indeed, it’s challenging. But still, you catch the drift. You can pursue your goals through an undergraduate major or minor, the MBA concentration, or a professional certificate. Courses will focus on critical analysis, solution development, innovation, analytics, finance, teamwork development, leadership growth, and more.

How will you learn these crucial things? Through lectures, guest speakers, academic service learning, field experience, online/social media resources, and new technologies. So while the athletes are hitting the field, court, et al., working their butts off to make it to the next level, you’ll be setting yourself up for a long, successful career in sports and entertainment by hitting the books. Not bad.

Once you have your MBA in Accounting, you can pick your industry of choice based on what interests you the most. The important thing is that you’ll be a Certified Public Accountant (CPA). This program is designed to provide you with the skills necessary to sit for the national CPA exam. Among other business foundations, you’ll learn essential skills like advanced auditing, global production and operations, as well as systems management and design. And you’ll receive direct, one-on-one instruction from current professionals eager to give you the most practical experience you could ask for - so you’ll be prepared for the corporate world.

As a graduate of the program, you’ll not only have greater expertise in accounting, but you’ll also come out as a better leader with the skills to make strategic decisions. You’ll know how to manage fraud, be confident in handling advanced accounting issues, communicate clearly, and lead diverse groups of people. Plus, you’ll have the knowledge you need to become a CPA - so you can join the field a step ahead.

A Bachelor of Science in Justice and Public Policy (JPP) from CUW will help you understand how administrative law, along with procedural, and substantive criminal laws apply to effecting arrest search and seizure, evidence collection, and courtroom procedures. You’ll learn best practices pertaining to field and custodial interviews, criminal investigations, and procedures involving juvenile. If you are considering an advanced degree, an introductory courses in criminal justice research methods and criminal psychology will prepare you to understand sociological, psychological, bio-physiological, and free-will theories, while learning how to apply theory to practice within the American civil and criminal court systems, correctional system, and justice system.

What does all that add up to? It creates a foundation for a career in a wide variety of criminal justice related fields by giving you quality instruction. One hundred percent of all faculty have certifications and/or extensive experience in their respective field. This lends itself to practical and experiential guidance in blending your personal and professional ethical values within a system of justice and public policy.

This program will prepare you with basic knowledge on the path to a successful career in an array of fields including attorney, correctional officer, court administrator, federal special agent, law enforcement officer, paralegal, natural resources warden, probation and parole officer, military career, and security management. It is a foundational degree to complete if you aspire to pursue law school or other public policy-focused graduate work. In short, if your goal is to work in the criminal justice field with practical knowledge and understanding of how your decisions and actions serve the community, this degree is for you.

Our MBA in Healthcare Administration will enhance your expertise in a way that gives you the ability to address the challenges of healthcare beyond the borders of this country. But first, we want you to know that we understand the importance of flexibility when it comes to furthering your education. That’s why we’ve designed this program specifically to suit the schedule of a busy working professional.
