The classical education program comprises an interdisciplinary course of study in classical studies and classical teaching methods, grounded in the liberal arts tradition with a strong foundation in the Lutheran heritage. The complete classical education program at Concordia is comprised of our classical studies major (which provides you with a classical foundation) and the classical pedagogy minor (where you’ll learn how to teach according to classical principles).

Students can anticipate engaging the liberal arts at all levels of the program. You will gain a solid foundation in classical culture and the Christian intellectual tradition. You will explore the history, theory and practice of a classical approach to curriculum and pedagogy. You will develop a thorough knowledge of biblical content and demonstrate an understanding of the Christian worldview from a Lutheran perspective. Upon graduation, you will have the broad content knowledge and practical experience that classical schools are looking for in teacher candidates.

You emerge with analytical skills, critical thinking skills, and go on to practice in organizations fostering service and commitment to serve local, national and international organizations.
This concentration emphasizes skills needed to inform your interests and expertise needed to lead justice-related organizations, namely corrections, courts, justice administration, law enforcement, and probation/parole.

If you’re going to be a defender of the law, it’s probably a good idea you study up on ethics. You’ll get plenty of that in this program, taking a look at ethical decision-making by criminal justice workers. You’ll also gain an introduction to a wide variety of other topics, like criminal psychology, as well as public policy and its effect on the American court and criminal justice system. You’ll have an opportunity to understand criminal investigation processes like interviewing, crime scene analysis, and collection of evidence. (Hint: CSI: Miami had it all wrong. Now, COPS, on the other hand …) You’ll study the law as it relates to arrests, searches, and seizures by law enforcement, probation and parole officers, and corrections officials. You’ll even study the rules of evidence and courtroom procedures.
There may not be a bat signal at the end of this program, but you’ll be thoroughly prepared for a career in court administration, security management, custodial and community-based corrections, intelligence operations, or investigations. Or maybe you’ll be more interested in municipal, state, or federal law enforcement. Or maybe state or federal probation and parole. Who knows? You could even use this degree as a good launching point for a bid at law school! Point is, you can expect this program to help you explore the incredibly exciting study of the courts, crime causation, criminal law, public policy, and the justice system.

The CUW Master of Science in Athletic Training (MSAT) program is a professional level program, accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education (CAATE).

The CAATE accredited Concordia University Wisconsin Master of Science in Athletic Training program will provide students with the professional preparation necessary to succeed as an entry-level athletic trainer.  The program will provide students an educational experience encompassing communication, problem solving, clinical skills, and service.  As a result, students graduating from the program will possess the knowledge, skills, and abilities of a successful clinician, will be prepared to pass the Board of Certification Examination, and will be eligible for appropriate state credentialing.  The Concordia University Wisconsin Master of Science in Athletic Training program will accomplish its mission through a holistic approach to the development of the mind, body, and spirit.

You’ll be taking 25 credits of required coursework to give you a firm basis in drawing, color, design, art history, and aesthetics (the stuff that everyone who is serious about art needs to be aware of). But after that, you get to choose what aspects of art to focus on. We’ve got plenty of options to pick from and you’ve got 15 credits worth of courses to fill with whatever 2D or 3D electives inspire you!

By the time you finish this program you’ll have refined your artistic skills creating original designs, manipulating imagery, and applying design principles to visual communication. As you develop your unique artistic style, you will have a clearer understanding of how your artistic talents make a difference in the world. You will have an opportunity to showcase your work with an exhibit in the CUW Art Gallery and to assemble a professional portfolio highlighting the best of your work.

There’s a lot that goes into the making of a good writer, and an MBA in Communications and Public Relations hits all the major topics: group dynamics, effective business writing, public relations, and public speaking. Additionally, you gain the benefit of having worldwide practitioners as your instructors, with a diverse student body and flexible courses that start at your convenience. You’ll sharpen your skills and become a confident, effective communicator that will stand out in the workforce.

At the end of this program, you’ll not only hone your communication skills and increase your understanding of the field, but you’ll also come out with experience applying today’s critical innovative business skills. You’ll be able to identify messages worth sharing, think strategically about your decisions, increase your financial competence, and be a leader among your colleagues. Whether you’re pitching a story to the media, presenting a new slogan, or reporting on analytics, you’ll know what to say and how to say it.

A good manager can adapt to almost any business structure in any industry. Because managerial skills are, for the most part, universal. This program will allow you to explore how businesses are structured and provide you with the skills you’ll need to succeed in almost any environment. You’ll gain mastery of current software for designing and managing business projects, while adopting proven project management tools and techniques at each stage in a project’s lifecycle. You’ll gain an understanding of how to integrate organizational strategies that involve the parent, supplier, and sub-supplier organizations working together in domestic and global environments.

You’ll also gain practical knowledge of marketing tools, market segmentation, research analysis in decision-making, media and promotion, budgeting, and evaluation. From developing a comprehensive and viable business plan to setting and obtaining investment objectives – such as capital, debt, securitization, and government subsidized options – this program will arm you with a variety of applicable skills. And you’ll learn about small businesses too, the way management is applied. Most importantly, you’ll acquire skills and experience that’ll help you become the well-rounded and insightful leader your organization deserves, whether you’re in small business, investments, or real estate.

Through the master's degree in church music, you’ll be encouraged to strengthen your theological knowledge and grow as a church musician so that you can better guide and enhance others’ worship. Our graduate program is designed to be completed exclusively in summer sessions, or in combination with evening sessions. This allows us to meet your needs outside of the traditional academic year, while still providing the beneficial personal interaction with the faculty. You’ll be able to choose from two areas of emphasis: organ and choral. And even though our courses are taught from a distinctly Lutheran perspective, all denominations are always welcome.

Through this master’s program, you’ll not only perfect your musical abilities, you’ll deepen your understanding of how music ought to relate to theology, specifically in a worship setting. With the combination of these two areas of expertise, you’ll grow in your ability to shape meaningful worship experiences for parishioners. What will your course work look like? Some courses will focus on areas like music theory, arranging, and composing. Others will prepare you for leadership roles in conducting and directing choirs or instrumental groups. Towards the end of your education, you’ll be asked to demonstrate a knowledge of liturgical music practices, musical forms, and the history of music in the church.

When you earn your bachelor of marketing degree from Concordia University, you’ll be able to market yourself to your future company. This program covers a lot of ground, from consumer audiences and their needs to product design, packaging, pricing, advertising, selling, distribution, brand identification, and promotion. You’ll study public relations – how it's used to promote and manage public perception – as well as basic advertising campaign strategies like copy, visualization, and layout. You’ll learn the difference between business-to-business and business-to-consumer operations. The program also covers the digital landscape, teaching the ins and outs of web design and maintenance, and the impact of E-commerce on marketing. You’ll learn marketing research methods and measurements, dip your toes into international marketing, and gain insights on how to ethically engage and interact conscientiously with the public.

After you graduate, you’ll enter the workforce ready with both the technical and creative skills every marketing professional needs to know to succeed. You will know how to create and implement effective marketing campaigns by providing a foundation in the brand identification and promotion, E-commerce, web page design and maintenance, and research methods. On top of all of this, it is also probably nice to know that marketing graduates have one of the highest job placement rates in the business world.

Our public relations program will prepare you in this language of persuasion so that you can bring incredible value to your employer – whether you’re working in sports, entertainment, or media, or for a corporation, a non-profit organization, a lobbying group, or political campaign. Public relations has become trickier and trickier in our modern age with the rise of social media, which makes it an incredibly diverse and exciting field of study.

At the center of all public relations lies the skill of communications. Our public relations major focuses on building your communication, interpersonal and problem-solving skills so you can always count on your fundamentals in this field. You’ve heard, “there’s no such thing as bad press,” haven’t you? Well, that’s only because public relations exists. And we prepare you to create crises response plans for product recalls and negative press so you can always be sure to stay out in front of potential catastrophe. What’s special about our program is that it combines skills and strategy with Christian ethics. It’s an exciting major that teaches you how to create and maintain a positive public image!
As we mentioned, social media has made this field incredibly dynamic, which is why we’ll help you master social media – especially when it comes to targeting audiences to engage in both corporate and personal branding. You’ll take a close look at certain major public relations cases that include political campaign strategy, how companies respond to negative events (such as the BP oil spill), and how to strategize new product launches (like the Nintendo Switch). You’ll also study non-profit and issue organizations like the World Wide Life Fund and Lutheran World Relief to get a glimpse into how public relations affects their world.

Throughout this program, you’ll create public relations plans that include journalism, social media, marketing, public speaking, radio, and promotion. The final capstone places you with organizations in need of a public relations plan, project, or strategy to provide experiential, real-world experience – because there’s no better way to learn than to actually step into the public relations role and perform. Our graduates have been hired by Fortune 500 companies including IBM, Boeing, Abbott Labs, and Kraft to help communicate company goals and new product launches.

The art education program is designed to provide you with a challenging course of study that will focus on art to enhance your intellectual development, personal growth, and career satisfaction. You will develop your own abilities as an artist and then learn how to help others create and appreciate art. This means, you’ll benefit from a well-rounded overview of the history, purpose, and technical methods of art.

If you don’t have a teaching license, don’t worry. You do not need to have one in order to participate in this program. If you are interested in working with children, their families, and at-risk youth then this program will provide valuable education for you. However, if you have (or are pursuing) your teaching license, then upon completion of the program, you’ll have the option to seek an additional license in art (#1952).

As an educator, you will learn to better understand the role of artistic activity in the human condition, possess an advanced knowledge of art curricula and pedagogy, demonstrate a high level of competence with visual arts media, and be aware of past and current practices in the the field. Our priority is to provide you with the theories that then inform your educational practices. For example, you’ll study how to use works of art, museum visits, and technology to enhance your students’ education.
