The Master of Public Administration program offers options in health administration and criminal justice. The mission of the Master of Public Administration program is to develop and enhance the theoretical and practical understanding, knowledge, and skills of current and future managers in public service with particular emphasis on the North State region. A major feature of this program is administration in a nonmetropolitan setting.

The BA in Dance, Option in Dance Science, offers a course of study combining dance with specific kinesiology and science courses for students interested in teaching careers in dance, dance medicine, careers in dance fitness, or graduate education in the areas of dance science or related dance studies. Students interested in the BA in Dance, Option in Dance Science should meet with Program Coordinator Brooke Winder no later than the start of their 2nd year (earlier for transfer students). Additionally, students must pass BIOL 207 , BIOL 208 , and DANC 260 with a minimum GPA of 2.25 to satisfy the major specific declaration requirements. The Master of Science in Mathematics with option in Mathematics Education for Secondary School Teachers program is designed for people holding a California Single Subject Teaching Credential in Mathematics and teaching in middle, junior high, or high schools. This option will give students greater expertise in mathematics and mathematics education (curriculum, teaching, learning, assessment and research). The program includes a blend of courses from pure and applied mathematics, statistics, mathematics education, and also may include coursework from the College of Education.

The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at the California State University, Long Beach is dedicated to maintaining a reputation as an outstanding department on the basis of a rigorous curriculum, the quality of our research, and the caliber of our graduates. Many of our faculty direct active research programs providing stimulating research projects for students in chemistry, biochemistry, biology and related disciplines. Our faculty are often supported by external research grants, and publications share authorship with undergraduate and graduate students.

The department is housed in two state of the art buildings with a complete range of modern instrumental equipment that is used directly by students in pursuit of their training. Direct hands on use not only provides opportunities for answering research questions, but also provides the opportunity for advanced training with modern instrumentation.

The Department of Journalism & Public Relations offers undergraduate programs that prepare students for careers in journalism, public relations and other media, editorial and storytelling related industries. Students take courses that provide both a strong theoretical foundation and real-life, hands-on training in the skills they need to pursue careers in mass communications. Public relations graduates become public relations professionals in corporations, nonprofit organizations, and communication firms and specialize in employee relations, media relations, community relations, multicultural relations, consumer relations, marketing communications, public affairs, and special event management. In their classes, public relations students learn how to use both traditional and digital forms of media, including social media, to communicate with target audiences. Advanced students become skilled in strategic planning and campaign development. The department offers two academic programs in public relations: A Bachelor of Arts in Public Relations (48 units) and a Minor in Public Relations (18 units).

Department of Communication Studies provides students with a liberal arts education in communication arts and sciences with specialized training in communication skills and practices at the baccalaureate and graduate levels. Each student is required to consult with the department undergraduate or graduate advisor as appropriate for advisement.

The Bachelor of Arts in Theatre Arts provides the opportunity for the student to gain a broad exposure to the discipline. The curriculum requires study in Acting, Technical and Design Crafts, the History, Literature and Criticism of Theatre, and Directing. After completion of the lower division core students may choose to audition/interview for placement in the performance or design options.

California State University, Long Beach (CSULB) is located in the center of one of the most diverse regions in the United States. This offers anthropology graduate students many opportunities to gain invaluable experience conducting research locally or globally and finding interesting, worthwhile internships or employment. The CSULB Department of Anthropology offers two Master of Arts degrees: General Anthropology and Option in Applied Anthropology. Both programs prepare graduates for employment or further study in anthropology or a related field.

We are not currently accepting graduate applications in the fields of archaeology and biological / physical anthropology.  Students intending to pursue an MA degree in these fields will not be accepted into the graduate program.

This program is available to students interested in the manufacturing of computers and the applications and operations aspects of computer hardware and software. Emphasis is placed on specific job skills required of entry level professionals in computer industry, including systems analysis and design, data administration, networking, data communications, data acquisition, oral and written communication, and management principles.

The Bachelor of Science in Industrial Design is comprised of 120 semester units. The program prepares designers for professional practice, whose function will be to help shape the products and systems produced by industrial processes. The curriculum includes studies in rapid visualization, aesthetics, materials and processes, presentation techniques, design methodology, product development, human factors, product costing, and financing principles. Students often have an opportunity to work directly with industry professionals through internships or as team members on sponsored projects. Participating companies have included Oakley, Xerox, Unisys, General Electric, Hewlett Packard, NCR, Apple, Chrysler, General Motors, Hitachi, Toyota, Kawasaki, InFocus, Compaq and Nike. Graduates have found positions in a wide variety of industries, including motion picture special effects, medical and dental equipment, computer and microchip technology, small appliances, as well as air, water and land transportation.
