This option emphasizes mathematics frequently used in applications. The student may choose one of two suboptions: the first is aimed at applications in science and engineering, the second at applications in economics and management. Students are prepared for careers in industry, business, and government and for graduate study in applied mathematics.

Students majoring in the B.S. in Mathematics (all options) who would like an enriched academic program that includes a thesis may complete the Honors in the Major program described here.

May also complete General Honors through the University Honors Program, in which case the thesis requirement may be met through the Honors in the Major.

When resources are scarce, difficult choices must be made on how resources are to be divided among competing uses. Economics is a social science that addresses the efficient allocation of scarce resources.

The Drawing and Painting program encourages a strong foundation in the traditions of life drawing and offers focuses on both figurative and non-figurative approaches to the medium. Courses are designed to contextualize the fundamentals, introduce critical thinking, and foster independence.

The M.S. in Science Education is designed primarily for credentialed K-12 teachers interested in deepening their understanding of science, education, and the teaching and learning of science. The program includes a blend of courses from the Science Education department, the College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics, and the College of Education. The program introduces candidates to Science Education as a field of study, with its own journals, issues, and research areas.

The option in Informal Science Education is designed for museum, aquaria, outdoor, and environmental educators who want to further their educational studies with a focus on learning and teaching science in non-classroom settings.

The Master of Science in Supply Chain Management program is designed to provide its students with advanced and highly demanded training in modern supply chain management practices, analysis methods, technology applications, strategy development, and other relevant skills that will advance their career prospects and prepare them for lifelong learning in a global supply chain environment. The rigorous curriculum will equip its graduates with advanced knowledge and skills needed to identify, analyze, and resolve complex supply chain challenges faced by globalscale businesses. This is accomplished through a unique combination of quantitative, technical, operational, strategic, and behavioral preparation.

Fast Track Master of Science in Supply Chain Management

The Fast Track Master of Science in Supply Chain Management (MSSCM) program is available to promising students seeking a career in supply chain management. CSULB undergraduate supply chain management students may apply to the Fast Track MSSCM program as undergraduates. Students are eligible for the Fast Track MSSCM if they maintain a 3.0 Overall and Upper Division Major GPA. Students deemed eligible for the Fast Track MSSCM program may waive the GMAT/GRE test and additional application requirement. Please inquire with the Graduate Business Office for more information.

The Master of Arts in Spanish from California State University, Long Beach opens doors for teachers, journalists, translators, writers, and other professionals seeking to demonstrate advanced knowledge of Spanish and Spanish-speaking cultures. It is ideal for individuals who seek an understanding of behavioral principles while pursuing a well- rounded education. This degree is also designed to provide a strong foundation for graduate school, including the three Master’s degree programs offered in the department.

Computers are one of the essential modern tools used to solve a physical problem or simulate or model a real system. A student choosing Computational Physics will acquire practical skills on how to solve differential and integral equations how to model a system and write a program that allows calculating quantities that can be compared with experimental data or predict the outcome of an experiment. The skills are universal in the sense that they may be applied to any field of Physics.

The Department exists to promote a broader and deeper understanding of the role that leisure and recreation provides in the lives of all people as well as to enhance the quality of Recreation Leisure experiences available to each person.

The BA in Dance, Option in Dance Science, offers a course of study combining dance with specific kinesiology and science courses for students interested in teaching careers in dance, dance medicine, careers in dance fitness, or graduate education in the areas of dance science or related dance studies. Students interested in the BA in Dance, Option in Dance Science should meet with Program Coordinator Brooke Winder no later than the start of their 2nd year (earlier for transfer students). Additionally, students must pass BIOL 207 , BIOL 208 , and DANC 260 with a minimum GPA of 2.25 to satisfy the major specific declaration requirements.
