This option establishes that marketing is largely a social process, emphasizing that enterprises meet the needs of individuals or segments of society. The function of marketing is to determine those needs, provide the most effective means of informing actual and potential customers of the availability of services and goods, and deliver such services and goods.

The MSCE Transportation Engineering/ Geotechnical Engineering specialization requires completion of 30 units of graduate courses, as specified below. Each student's program must satisfy all requirements of the university, college, and department, and contain the equivalent of 10 or more units of design, as determined by the department's graduate coordinator. During the first two weeks of the first semester as a CSULB graduate student, the student should make an appointment to meet with the graduate coordinator, who will assign him/her to an area advisor.

The aim of the M.A. program is to prepare students to achieve an advanced knowledge of Italian language, literature, history and culture, and of the methods of scholarly research. While a Ph.D. program is the next step in the path of some students, others choose careers in education, international business, arts management, fashion, or any profession with international reach and global interaction. A limited number of Teaching Associate positions are available to qualified candidates after a course in language pedagogy.

Asian Studies is an interdisciplinary program that offers three concentrations: Asia Area Studies; Asia and Business; Asia and Globalization. All of these concentrations share a common core. Beyond the common core requirements, students select elective courses from one of the three concentrations to complete their 39 unit requirement for the major. Regular consultation with an advisor is highly recommended. Because of the importance of statistics to this discipline, students are advised to include STAT 108 among their GE courses. A “C” grade in all required and elective classes in the major is required for continuation of the program. It is also suggested that students take AST 320 or AST 336 for their required Upper Division WI Capstone course. This degree is available to qualified students preparing for professional careers in research, education, industry, consulting, government, and health professions. Our Biology M.S. degrees are appropriate choices for students seeking to increase their competitiveness for further studies at the doctoral level and professional schools. In addition, a master’s degree in biology, combined with appropriate courses in education, can be utilized for a teaching career.This degree requires a thesis based on original scientific research; a list of research areas with the names of faculty specializing in these areas can be obtained from the department’s website.

When resources are scarce, difficult choices must be made on how resources are to be divided among competing uses. Economics is a social science that addresses the efficient allocation of scarce resources.

Two degree programs are available to the student: Master of Arts degree in Kinesiology with five Options and Master of Science degree in Kinesiology with four Options. Students may select the thesis/project track, the comprehensive examination track, or the capstone course track.

The Master’s of Science in Industrial/Organizational (MSIO) Psychology program is a rigorous, 36-unit program designed to prepare students to enhance organizational performance and human well-being in professional settings.

Film and Electronic Arts is an innovative program that emphasizes both theory and practice. Focusing on the integration of moving images, culture, and technology, the curriculum is designed to develop storytelling and production skills while providing a foundational education in the arts and humanities. Media history, theory, and aesthetics are taught as an integral part of production practices.

Students may apply to the Option in Narrative Production after completing the Major-Specific Admissions Requirements. Note: The 54 units required for the major includes the following 3-unit preparation course not included under the major requirements below: ART 110 - Introduction to the Visual Arts; or AH 111B Foundation Art History: c.1300-present, Europe and the United States; or articulated equivalent (grade of C or better required).
