This program is designed both for students who wish to pursue further graduate study and those seeking a terminal degree. The program seeks to blend theoretical and applied aspects of linguistics and draws from a variety of disciplines.

A non-performance-focused degree that sets music within the broader context of interdisciplinary studies, diversity, and contemporary thought. This degree has a basic music core, upper-division elective music units focused on popular, world, and film music as well as art music, an individualized track of non-music elective studies that focuses in at least two other disciplines (one major area and one or more minor areas), and a final research project culminating in a comprehensive senior paper/project that sets music within a context of historical, cultural, theoretical, or interdisciplinary studies, diversity issues, and contemporary thought. The project draws on an outside discipline from the student’s coursework in Interdisciplinary and Cultural Studies.

An audition is required prior to admission to assess performance standard. All applicants to the program must meet with the BA advisor prior to, or at the beginning of, the first semester of residence to review the statement of purpose and to draw up an individualized study plan.

The bachelor of science degree in Earth Science is designed for those students considering a professional career in environmental, geotechnical, or engineering geology. The program also provides a fundamental education in geology that prepares students for graduate studies in the geological sciences. The required curriculum includes surficial geology courses (geomorphology, hydrology) not required as part of the B.S. in Geology. Earth Science majors must receive a grade of “C” or better in all courses required for the major. A minimum of 120 units is required for the bachelor of science degree. Transfer students should attempt to fulfill, prior to transferring, the appropriate lower division curricular requirements as outlined below. In particular students should take prior to transferring the equivalent of GEOL 102 and GEOL 104, and at least three of the following four: CHEM 111A, CHEM 111B, MATH 122, and MATH 123.

The Master of Science in Supply Chain Management program is designed to provide its students with advanced and highly demanded training in modern supply chain management practices, analysis methods, technology applications, strategy development, and other relevant skills that will advance their career prospects and prepare them for lifelong learning in a global supply chain environment. The rigorous curriculum will equip its graduates with advanced knowledge and skills needed to identify, analyze, and resolve complex supply chain challenges faced by globalscale businesses. This is accomplished through a unique combination of quantitative, technical, operational, strategic, and behavioral preparation.

Fast Track Master of Science in Supply Chain Management

The Fast Track Master of Science in Supply Chain Management (MSSCM) program is available to promising students seeking a career in supply chain management. CSULB undergraduate supply chain management students may apply to the Fast Track MSSCM program as undergraduates. Students are eligible for the Fast Track MSSCM if they maintain a 3.0 Overall and Upper Division Major GPA. Students deemed eligible for the Fast Track MSSCM program may waive the GMAT/GRE test and additional application requirement. Please inquire with the Graduate Business Office for more information.

The Department of Journalism & Public Relations offers undergraduate programs that prepare students for careers in journalism, public relations and other media, editorial and storytelling related industries. Students take courses that provide both a strong theoretical foundation and real-life, hands-on training in the skills they need to pursue careers in mass communications. Public relations graduates become public relations professionals in corporations, nonprofit organizations, and communication firms and specialize in employee relations, media relations, community relations, multicultural relations, consumer relations, marketing communications, public affairs, and special event management. In their classes, public relations students learn how to use both traditional and digital forms of media, including social media, to communicate with target audiences. Advanced students become skilled in strategic planning and campaign development. The Masters of Science in Gerontology Program provides a flexible interdisciplinary curriculum that gives new and seasoned professionals the competencies necessary for success in the field of aging. It provides experiential as well as didactic graduate education and professional training in gerontology for individuals planning to become professionals in public and private agencies. It provides field experiences to enhance understanding of concepts, themes, and skills related to aging at various life stages, within different gender and racial/ethnic groups and among people with various abilities. Students gain knowledge and skills necessary to plan, develop and implement innovative programs to meet the needs of the growing aging population locally, state-wide, nationally, and internationally. Students are supported in exploring aging-related professional values and ethics.

The Master of Arts in Education, Option in Curriculum and Instruction, Secondary Education (30-33 units) is designed to foster the development of educators who are caring, effective, reflective, and committed to improving their schools. Coursework prepares teachers to apply theoretical insights and research findings to the practical problems they encounter in their work in curriculum and instruction.

The Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance is designed to prepare students for professional careers as performers and/or choreographers. Students wishing to pursue the BFA in Dance must participate in a supplemental audition and interview process in which they must demonstrate strong technical and/or choreographic ability as well as a keen understanding of themselves and a commitment to a professional career in dance. To apply to audition to the BFA, students must have reached sophomore standing, have completed the GE Foundation requirements, and have successfully completed the following course work with a minimum GPA of 3.0: DANC 100 or DANC 300; DANC 120; DANC 161; DANC 182; one unit from DANC 181 or DANC 381 ; 10 units of dance technique from at least three idioms of dance. Students enrolled in required courses at the time of the audition, may audition with a signed Grade In Progress form from the instructor(s) of the in-progress courses. Students may not apply after they have earned 90 Timely Graduation Units.
