To prepare interior design students to succeed, the courses in the Interior Design major encompass knowledge and skills in such areas as elements and principles of design, space planning, architectural drafting by hand and computer, art and design history, universal design (design for a range of ages and abilities), interior finishes and materials, and sustainable, resilient design.

As part of a program within a university committed to changing the world, the interior design faculty place strong emphasis on areas of universal and environmentally responsible design, incorporating their principles into projects in multiple courses.

If you are interested in preparing for ordained ministry and for general pastoral leadership responsibilities in churches as well as parachurch, mission, and other settings, then the Master of Divinity degree program is for you. It is also the recommended first theological degree for admission to doctoral programs oriented to theological research and teaching.

The Linguistics and Cultural Studies major features a thorough grounding in general linguistic theory, as well as provides you with an opportunity for work in some more specific subfields (e.g., sociolinguistics, second-language acquisition).

 The Film Studies major prepares you to become a creative and informed writer, audience member, and practitioner of film, through a deeper understanding of film art, history, aesthetics, criticism, and production.

About the Film Studies major

You will develop skills that are at the heart of a liberal arts education, including writing, critical thinking, and problem solving. The major provides an array of course offerings informed by a Christian perspective, with the aim of graduating students of competence and character who are prepared for professional careers, advanced study, and service. Primary goals include:

• Cinema literacy: You will practice critical media literacy within the contexts of American and International cinemas.
• Historical literacy: You will understand the formation of the American film industry and the pivotal roles movies have played in shaping American and International cultures.
• Creative practice: This major prepares a generation of film critics, audiences, and professional.

The Business Administration major in the School of Business, Government, and Economics at SPU allows you to develop essential business skills in a uniquely Christian environment that emphasizes values, ethics, and an understanding of business as a means to serve.

Business Administration Major
The Business Administration major provides you with a broad-based education in the fundamental theories, principles, and practices of modern business. You will learn standards of professional and ethical behavior, along with the technical expertise and leadership attributes necessary to attain a variety of positions in business.

As part of the Business Administration major, students also gain vital industry experience by participating in our SBGE internship program. Our students have held internships at leading local businesses and companies such as Starbucks, Boeing, Microsoft, the Seattle Mariners, and Merrill Lynch.

With an International Business concentration, you participate in a study abroad program with SPU faculty and take specialized courses at a foreign university.

The program focuses on the exploration of creative solutions in communication using digital media processes, typography, form development, and information design with print, motion, UI/UX, and time–based media.

Through the Visual Communication program, you will become a thoroughly trained, competent designer educated in traditional and contemporary media and grounded by historical and cultural knowledge.

Given the sizeable Spanish-speaking population in our region and the nation as a whole, Spanish is an ideal language for you to learn at Seattle Pacific University.

Spanish is, after Chinese, the most common first language in the world. And because more than 35 million Spanish speakers live in the United States, a growing number of employers prefer to hire individuals who can effectively communicate in Spanish. Likewise, communicating in Spanish can benefit you when serving in many mission organizations and nonprofits.

Beyond the clear economic benefits, learning Spanish can broaden your cultural horizons, sharpen your critical-thinking skills, and increase your creativity. Spanish is even one of the official languages of the United Nations.

The Accounting major in SPU's School of Business, Government, and Economics is designed to prepare you for a wide range of professional challenges and equip you with the necessary tools to succeed in a variety of key positions throughout the business world.

ACCOUNTING MAJOR
As an Accounting student at Seattle Pacific University, you will begin to master specialized areas such as financial, managerial, and international accounting. 

You will learn about taxation, auditing, budgets, profit-and-loss statements, and information systems alongside many other topics. Our program offers an added dimension of integrity and ethics grounded in Christian faith and values, setting our graduates apart. 

As a Bachelor of Arts in Life Sciences major, you have the option of focusing on a specific area of biology (such as physiology, organismal biology, or ecology), or exposing yourself to a broad range of courses.  This flexibility will allow you to complement a second major or diverse career options with a solid foundation in the biological sciences.

Chemistry forms a foundation for the study of a wide variety of scientific disciplines. It is concerned primarily with matter, energy, and their interactions. Chemists are both creators and problem-solvers who do everything from create new substances to analyze criminal evidence. They are at the forefront of efforts to make sure that technology serves people, rather than the reverse. And at Seattle Pacific University, chemists and chemistry are informed and influenced by a Christian worldview.
