The general objective of the psychology program is to prepare students for professional training in the field of psychology by providing an overview of the essential methods and findings of experimental, clinical, and theoretical psychology. The primary theoretical orientation of the program is behavioral although the students will be exposed to multiple theoretical orientations. The scientist-practitioner model is emphasized in applied courses. Opportunities are provided for both human and non-human experimental research through environmental manipulation.

Students seeking the Bachelor of Science degree may earn a major or a minor in psychology. Note required grade average as described in the Department of Social Sciences.

Students learn to:

• Design and carry out scientific studies in the laboratory and in the field
• Communicate their ideas and conclusions effectively

The Studio Art program is designed to prepare students for careers as artists in the fields of ceramics, illustration, photography, painting, printmaking and sculpture, as well as ensuring students meet entry requirements for graduate schools, in these areas of concentration. The Studio Art program provides students the instruction, facilities, equipment, and opportunities necessary to develop their skills, abilities, and historical perspectives in their chosen area of artistic specialization.
The Studio Art program fosters the intellectual, professional, personal and social development of its students. The curriculum balances the teaching of technical knowledge and skills with the development of critical conceptual and creative abilities. Faculty members are recognized professional artists, with a diversity of viewpoints and educational training that encourages students to investigate and appreciate different forms of art expression.

The goal of Sociology is to provide an understanding of the scientific study of human behavior in groups and social settings. Sociology is concerned with the growth of the individual within the wider context of society. In the study of sociology, the student is encouraged to develop a theoretical framework and techniques of investigation useful for analysis and insight into group behavior.

The Business Administration degree program at Concord University has  earned a business-specific accreditation through the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP).  Why does this matter?  ACBSP accreditation is a standard of excellence and superiority among business schools.  Such designation is a sign of student success and satisfaction in learning programs.  ACBSP means you are part of the best of the best.

Finance
In accordance with the missions of Concord University and the Department of Business, the mission of the finance emphasis is to education our students with a thorough understanding of the fundamental principles of finance. We strive to transform our students into graduates who think critically, are able to analyze financial information, and make sound financial decisions for a modern corporation. Additionally, ethical awareness and behavior are discussed where relevant.

The emphasis in Finance focuses on providing students with a broad foundation in financial theory and practice. Our goal is to ensure that our students have a working knowledge of the tools they will use on a day-to-day basis to make financial decisions in financial institutions and markets. Students build this foundation through a curriculum that balances discussion of important theories and concepts with practical application of this information to perform analyses and make decisions that simulate real-world financial management scenarios.

Computer Scientists commonly do three things: design and implement software, devise new ways to use computers, and develop effective ways to solve computing problems. They seek to understand why technology works, and apply that knowledge in practical ways.
 
Concord’s curriculum is designed to give students a thorough understanding of computers; the physics of the hardware, the underlying mathematical principles; and the creation of software solutions. The curriculum’s design is guided by recommendations from the Association of Computing Machinery and the Institute for Electrical and Electronics Engineers. The core prepares students for a wide variety of careers and graduate school, but students can also choose one of three concentrations in which to specialize:

• Software Development - Designed for students who are interested in pursuing careers in software development or software engineering. Students in this concentration will learn to develop user-focused software solutions for a variety of different platforms.
• Cybersecurity - Designed for students interested in pursuing careers in computer security or related fields. Students in this concentration will learn how to test for and defend against security vulnerabilities. Students will also learn how to create secure software and handle the aftermath of security breaches.
• Analysis, Simulation, and Modeling - Designed for students interested in pursuing careers in analytics, artificial intelligence, or scientific computing. This concentration is suitable for double majors in Biology, Chemistry, and Environmental Geosciences.

The Department of Health Sciences also offers an undergraduate baccalaureate degree in Health Sciences.  For the BS in Health Sciences students may choose an area of study in one of four tracks: Pre Physical Therapy, Pre Athletic Training, Exercise Science, or Pre Professional studies.  We encourage students to select an area of emphasis that most closely aligns with their professional, academic, and career goals.

Pre-Physical Therapy
The Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences—Pre-Physical Therapy degree prepares students for entry into Physical Therapy School. Students are presented with the classroom knowledge, hands-on skills, and practical experiences to assist them in achieving satisfying careers and making positive contributions to their profession and communities.

The Bachelor of Science in Biology - Liberal Arts. The liberal arts major is designed for students who are interested in graduate school or employment directly after graduation. Students successfully completing the program will be prepared for graduate studies in wide range of disciplines, including environmental science, molecular biology and genetics, and forensic science, or employment as a research technician.

Information systems specialists use their technology knowledge and skills to help businesses and other organizations achieve their goals. Students in this major will learn how to organize, analyze, and apply data to implement effective, efficient, and secure technology solutions.

• Geospatial Science - Designed for students interested in pursuing careers in geographic information systems. Students in this concentration will learn how to utilize computational tools to solve environmental and social challenges. This concentration is suitable for double majors in Geography.
• Information Technology - Designed for students interested in pursuing careers in data analytics or computer security. Students in this concentration will learn a broad array of skills that will be beneficial to any organization.
• Management - Designed for students interested in pursuing careers in information technology management or management information systems. Students in this concentration will learn how to utilize technology to drive business decisions. This concentration is suitable for double majors in Business Administration.
• Web - Designed for students interested in pursuing careers in web development or interactive media. tudents in this concentration will learn and apply design principles to create web pages and visualize information. This concentration is suitable for double majors in Advertising / Graphic Design and Studio Art.

Pre-Professional Studies
The Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences—PreProfessional Studies degree prepares students for entry into a Professional School of their choice (satisfying the entrance requirement for said school is up to the individual student). Students are presented with the classroom knowledge, hands-on skills, and practical experiences to assist them in achieving satisfying careers and making positive contributions to their profession and communities

The English Program provides students with a solid background in literary study, various forms of writing, and the study of English language and linguistics. Students receive a broad scope of knowledge in the survey classes and then a deep dive into particular subjects in other classes, preparing them for professional careers in a variety of fields such as publishing, editing, marketing, broadcasting, journalism, and professional writing, or graduate work in fields such as law, medicine, ministry, or mental health, especially when combined with a second major or minor pertinent to that field (for example, history, political science, business, biology, philosophy, psychology, etc.).
