Psychology is the science of behaviors, mental and emotional processes, development, and social interactions. The University of Bridgeport offers a Bachelor of Science in Psychology in three unique formats:

The Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology prepares students for work that requires liberal arts training as well as psychological knowledge and skills, while also preparing the student for success in future graduate studies. The major provides students with a detailed awareness of the field of psychology, including its historical background, paradigms, methods, research findings, and applications. The major addresses the general areas of developmental, personality, social, cognitive, and abnormal psychology. It fosters the development of verbal, quantitative, analytical, and technological skills that are useful for work in psychology and related fields.

UB’s Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering (BSME) degree program combines in-depth studies with lab and project experience to help students apply the principles of motion, force, energy, and materials for the design, development, analysis, manufacturing, testing and maintenance of mechanical systems. In our program, students will develop competence and acquire knowledge in engineering fundamentals, computer-aided engineering tools, communication skills, design of individual components and multi-component systems, manufacturing processes, mechanical systems, professional ethics, and laboratory exploration.

The Bachelor in Dental Hygiene BS degree program is completed through the integration of Associate’s degree dental hygiene courses and Bachelor’s degree courses, or by continuing studies after completing an Associate’s degree at an accredited School of Dental Hygiene.

The University of Bridgeport baccalaureate degree completion approach is available to Fones students as well as to graduates of other accredited Dental Hygiene programs. With 60 to 90 transfer credits, a student may achieve a Bachelor of Science degree in Dental Hygiene in two additional years. Education at the baccalaureate level, which combines the professional dental hygiene curriculum with a liberal arts education, enhances the dental hygienist’s opportunities, skills, background knowledge, and professional values.

Upon satisfactory completion of semester hours in the areas of study specified, the student will be recommended for the degree of Bachelor of Science in Dental Hygiene.

Students pursuing a B.S. Degree in Dental Hygiene have the opportunity to design a portion of their curriculum to meet personal career goals. The outcome of this planning process is an individualized program that enables dental hygienists to gain desired knowledge and skills and directly transfers this expertise to a professional work setting. Students may identify a minor in human services, education, marketing, or psychology, to name a few subject areas.

A music degree from the University of Bridgeport will provide students with the preparation they need to build a career in today’s music world. UB has been training musicians since 1947. We offer an experienced and dedicated faculty of artist-teachers, the kind of personal attention and advising usually found at small colleges, and the sort of spacious and well-designed facilities typically found at large universities.

Our Bachelor of Music degree provides pre-professional training in music, including concentrations in Music Business, Music Education, and Music Performance.

The UB School of Education offers a master’s degree that leads to initial Connecticut certification in several subjects, including Music Teaching Certification (K-12). This program welcomes musicians from a variety of backgrounds who wish to become state-certified in music. The ever-increasing use of the computer in today’s world offers expanding opportunities in this field of specialization. The Bachelor's in Computer Engineering, BS Degree Program, provides a bridge between the disciplines of electrical engineering and computer science.

Graduates can enter such fields as chip design, software engineering, robotics, and a variety of computer-controlled applications. This requires the development of the engineering approach through the understanding of engineering mathematics, digital and analog electronics and control, as well as computer languages, computing theory and computer architecture. Design and problem-solving form the heart of the discipline and a variety of computer-aided design (CAD) tools are utilized to facilitate learning and implementation.

The graduate from this program will obtain the basic education in the first three years. The final year is utilized to explore specific areas of interest. The rapid evolution of the discipline has an effect on computing education, affecting both content and pedagogy.

The Bachelor's in Computer Science, BS degree program core coursework provide basic coverage of algorithms, data structures, software design, concepts of programming languages, and computer organization and architecture.
