Associate of Arts in Education Teacher Preparation Pathway

This pathway is for students who want to pursue a four-year degree in mathematics education Students planning to become classroom teachers must have a standard high school diploma or a GED.

Please note only 60 of these credits are needed for AA degree completion For each pathway, IDS 2891 is a degree requirement, and for most of the pathways, SLS 1106 is required for first-time-in--college students. CGS 2100 may be able to be tested out for no credit. Consult an academic advisor with questions related to pathways and course planning.

The architectural design and construction technology AS degree lays a strong foundation for a career as a construction planner, architectural assistant or architectural engineer. The coursework also prepares you to pass the contractor's exam.

This program will prepare students for a position as a construction planner or as an assistant to an architect or an architectural engineer in the planning and designing of structures, using construction materials and working with contracts and specifications. If students pass the contractor’s exam, they may become self-employed as contractors. The course work in this program focuses on using the latest technology to solve problems faced by the architect, the engineer and building contractor as they apply to the planning and construction of buildings.

The network infrastructure AS degree teaches network infrastructure concepts, protocols and configurations related to routers, LAN, VLAN, WAN, IP addressing, and more. This program prepares you for a variety of jobs in the IT industry.

The respiratory care AS degree prepares you to treat patients who have difficulty breathing due to pulmonary or cardiac disease. Learn to work with premature infants, children, trauma victims and patients requiring life support. Respiratory therapists work in physician offices, home care setting, skilled nursing facilities, rehabilitation centers, sleep study departments and hospitals. The need for respiratory therapists continues to increase due to a growing elderly population; environmental problems; and technological advances in the treatment of lung disease, heart attack, cancer, accident victims and premature babies.

Graduates may take the national certification and registry exams to become licensed practitioners in the US.

The computer programming and analysis AS degree helps you develop the skills necessary to become a computer programmer, data manager, specialist or analyst.

The Interdisciplinary Entrepreneurship AS degree provides opportunities to engage in ideation, business and financial modeling, effectuation, rapid prototyping and design thinking. Careers include business management, intrapreneurship and self-employment.

Students will acquire a comprehensive set of 21st Century workforce skills that prepare them for working in either their own start?ups or large established companies across a variety of industries. Students who complete this degree are eligible for applying for HCC’s Everyday Entrepreneur Venture Seed Fund.

This degree provides students with the opportunity to learn entrepreneurial skills including ideation, business and financial modeling, effectuation, rapid prototyping, and design thinking. Nursing is a challenging, rewarding career. A nationwide nursing shortage means great career opportunities are available. Accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN), our nursing AS degree program takes four semesters, and graduates are eligible to take the National licensing exam NCLEX. The computer information technology AS degree prepares you for jobs such as PC support specialist, help desk specialist, microcomputer specialist, software specialist and information systems specialist.

Echocardiography uses high-frequency sound waves to create images of the human heart. Our AS degree prepares you to perform diagnostic studies on patients in order to quantify cardiac disease, including coronary arteriography, hemodynamic monitoring and analysis, and electrophysiology studies. Graduates must pass national registry examinations to become certified echocardiography technologists.

The architecture AA pathway degree is ideal for students who wish to pursue Bachelor's degrees in architectural design, interior design and landscape architecture.

If you have an interest in technology, an eye for detail and a good amount of artistic talent, this may be the path for you. HCC offers the training you need to lay the foundation for a successful career. The coursework for this program prepares you for employment as a construction planner, architectural assistant or architectural engineer, as well as to sit for the contractor's exam.
