The Humanities AA pathway is for students who wish to pursue a bachelor's degree in Humanities or a related field. Humanities is an interdisciplinary program with coursework that covers a broad range of studies. The curriculum encourages students to broaden their world view by studying history, literature, fine arts, philosophy, and foreign languages.

Optional Practical Training or OPT is a period during which students, who have completed their degrees in the USA, are permitted to work for one year on a student visa by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). OPT allows students to work for up to 3 years and develop real-world skills to survive in the competitive jobs market.
It is temporary employment for a period of 12-months that is directly related to the major area of study of an F-1 student. Eligible students have the option to apply for OPT employment authorization before completing their academic studies and/or after completing their academic studies.
A student can participate in three types of Optional Practical Training (OPT):

Associate of Science in Hospitality and Tourism Management
The hospitality and tourism management AS degree prepares you for employment in management positions in the hospitality industry, and/or provides supplemental training. The hospitality industry includes the hotel, motel, bed and breakfast, resort, club, marina, and other lodging organizations.
Graduates may enter positions such as catering and sales representative, guest services representative, food and beverage specialist, guest services specialist, hospitality supervisor, catering and sales supervisor, food & beverage supervisor, guest services supervisor, assistant hospitality manager, hospitality manager, and motel/hotel manager.

Associate of Science in Respiratory Care
The respiratory care AS degree prepares you to treat patients who have difficulty breathing due to pulmonary or cardiac disease. Learn to work with premature infants, children, trauma victims and patients requiring life support. Respiratory therapists work in physician offices, home care setting, skilled nursing facilities, rehabilitation centers, sleep study departments and hospitals. The need for respiratory therapists continues to increase due to a growing elderly population; environmental problems; and technological advances in the treatment of lung disease, heart attack, cancer, accident victims and premature babies.
Graduates may take the national certification and registry exams to become licensed practitioners in the US.

Architecture and Construction
Associate of Science in Architectural Design and Construction Technology
The architectural design and construction technology AS degree lays a strong foundation for a career as a construction planner, architectural assistant or architectural engineer. The coursework also prepares you to pass the contractor's exam.

This program will prepare students for a position as a construction planner or as an assistant to an architect or an architectural engineer in the planning and designing of structures, using construction materials and working with contracts and specifications. If students pass the contractor’s exam, they may become self-employed as contractors. The course work in this program focuses on using the latest technology to solve problems faced by the architect, the engineer and building contractor as they apply to the planning and construction of buildings.

Associate of Science in Surgical Technology
A surgical technologist assists surgeons, anesthesiologists, registered nurses, and other members of an operating room team. Surgical technologists, who may also be called surgical or operating room technicians or scrub techs, prepare the operating room before the surgery takes place. They also prepare patients for their surgery, arrange medical equipment, and assist doctors during surgical procedures.
The surgical technologist position is sometimes confused with the surgical assistant role. A surgical assistant is another member of the operating room team. While a surgical technologist's tasks are usually limited to preparing operating rooms and equipment, and handing instruments to surgeons, the surgical assistant provides hands-on assistance to a surgeon during an operation.
A surgical assistant might help control a patient's bleeding, apply sutures and use suctioning equipment. Some surgical technologists become surgical assistants after receiving supplemental on-the-job training. To become a surgical assistant, you can also complete a formal training program.

Echocardiography uses high-frequency sound waves to create images of the human heart. Graduates must pass national registry examinations to become certified echocardiography technologists.

The mass communications AA pathway degree is perfect for students seeking a Bachelor's degree in mass communications, journalism, advertising, public relations, education or telecommunications. Careers may include writing for various media, broadcasting, corporate communications, serving as governmental agency spokesperson, copywriting and other roles in advertising and public relations, video and audiovisual production and sales, or political lobbying.

The HCC Philosophy Associate in Arts degree pathway is a for students who wish to pursue a bachelor's degree in philosophy at a college or university. The associate degree provides students with the foundational knowledge required to enhance their understanding of philosophy as a critical inquiry of nature and human society, to analyze and evaluate major paradigms in philosophy from historical and contemporary perspectives, to sharpen critical thinking and argumentative skills, and to prepare students to transfer to a university.
This degree offers students a fundamental understanding of the main fields of philosophy, including logic, ethics, epistemology, metaphysics, social and political philosophy, aesthetics, and philosophy of religion while exposing students to a broad spectrum of philosophical theories. Many university programs require the completion of specific courses prior to acceptance. It is the student's responsibility to contact the institution to ensure transferability.
This pathway is for students who want to pursue a four-year degree in Philosophy.
