With the growing prevalence of big data and the focus on quantitative analysis, there are job opportunities for statisticians in virtually every field from science to medicine to entertainment to politics and beyond.
Statistics is the science of modeling, summarizing, and analyzing data. Statisticians help people produce trustworthy data, analyze the data, and present the results in a useful manner. Statisticians work with people from other professional backgrounds to solve practical problems. They provide crucial guidance in determining what information is reliable and which predictions can be trusted. An exciting aspect of the field is the diversity of areas where statistical methods are used; this is one reason for continuing strong demand for well-trained statisticians. With the popularity of big data and the focus on quantitative analysis in many fields, there will continue to be a high demand for graduates with a statistics major or minor. Evening MBA students challenge themselves to do more and to be more.  Multi-dimensional professionals from all fields meet on campus in Fort Collins – two evenings each week for 21 months – to immerse themselves in leadership studies with a focus on real-world application.  Evening MBA candidates learn from each other and from world-class faculty to acquire the skills and confidence to emerge as leaders ready to inspire.

The Department of Environmental and Radiological Health Sciences offers a wide variety of graduate opportunities in cancer biology and oncology; occupational and environmental health (i.e., industrial hygiene, ergonomics); health physics, radiation sciences (i.e., radiobiology, radioecology, radiochemistry) epidemiology and toxicology.

You love knowing where your food comes from. You like to understand the science and business behind raising animals. This major focuses on the study of food-producing animals with foundation courses in the sciences. You’ll choose from specialized courses to enhance your technical, practical, and business skills, and have opportunities to participate in hands-on research and experience in the field with industry professionals and animals.

Collaboratively formed in 2008 by the University of Colorado, Colorado State University, and the University of Northern Colorado, the Colorado School of Public Health  provides training, innovative research and community service to actively address public health issues including chronic disease, access to healthcare, environmental threats, emerging infectious diseases, and costly injuries.

The Equine Science major provides students with an industry-oriented, science-based education that prepares them for careers in a growing equine industry or one of the many industries associated with equine production.  The curriculum focuses on in-depth scientific knowledge of equine physiology and function and how to relate those scientific principles to the industry. Equine Science majors develop a broad understanding of the horse as it relates to business, recreational, and production aspects of the industry through selection of specialized courses to enhance their technical, practical, and business skills.

You know there’s something miraculous about plants, growing, and being a part of it all. The Horticulture major nourishes that insight, and helps you transform your passion into a thriving career. You’ll use scientific principles in the growing, marketing and utilizing of fruits, vegetables, flowers, trees, and grasses. You’ll gain a strong grounding in botany and chemistry, and come out with skills to surround your life with all things green.

Horticulture is the application of scientific principles in the growing, marketing, processing, and utilizing of fruits, vegetables, flower and foliage plants, trees, shrubs, and turf grasses. The major requires a strong grounding in botany, chemistry, and horticulture. There are four concentrations in the Horticulture major: Floriculture, Horticultural Business Management, Horticultural Food Crops, and Horticultural Science.

The History major is designed for students to expand their knowledge about the past, improve their ability to think logically and critically, and sharpen their powers of written and oral expression. History provides a rich background for learning abroad, studying languages, government, law, medicine, and beyond, and History majors at CSU come out with a well-rounded education that opens doors in almost any career field. The Major and Minor in History at CSU offer students courses that encompass human history around the world, as well as several distinct features linked to our history as Colorado’s Morrill Act land-grant university. We have led in the creation of graduate public history programs, and now have an undergraduate concentration in Digital and Public History, as well as concentrations in General History, Language, and Social Studies Teaching.

Our History majors work in many different careers in public history in museums, archives, state and local government agencies in historic preservation and cultural resources management, the National Park Service and Forest Service, and consulting; they work in schools as teachers and administrators; they work in public service; and they are prepared for graduate and professional school in a variety of fields. We offer internships in many of these fields for CSU credit to help students explore their interests in history.

The Major in Interdisciplinary Liberal Arts is a B.A. degree program combining humanities, arts, languages, performance, media, communication, literature, and social sciences so as to foster interdisciplinary knowledge, core career competencies, personal development, professional expertise, interpersonal confidence, and a richer understanding of the complex world in which we live. Students create their own program of study, choosing courses within the College of Liberal Arts based upon their academic interests, personal curiosity, and future career goals.

To further increase depth and focus, and to enhance expertise and career opportunities, Interdisciplinary Liberal Arts students are required to complete a second field of study, which can be any minor, or a second major, or 21 credits in a Foreign Language.

Students in this track will have the opportunity to build networks with CSU’s Institute for Research in the Social Sciences, Geospatial Centroid, the Graybill Statistics and Data Science Laboratory, and others on campus who use political or social science data. Students in this track will be trained to pursue careers as data analysts, researchers, and consultants in government, non-profits, campaigns, advocacy groups, or the private sector.
