The Cell and Molecular Biology Program offers research opportunities from a wide variety of fields to include the molecular and cellular aspects of cancer biology, infectious disease, metabolism (includes biofuels), neuroscience, plant biology, molecular physiology, gene expression, reproductive biology, developmental biology and structural biology.

The Electronic Art concentration offers students the chance to create and critique within the context of digital methods and materials. These explorations can include game theory, experimental video techniques, net.art, user interface, software creation, the creation of social tools, installation work, physical computing, and code within the context of visual arts. The master’s degree in design and merchandising with a specialization in apparel and merchandising provides a focus on scientific discovery and creative scholarship grounded in sustainability, health and wellness, and social responsibility. You will have an opportunity to learn about and conduct research in diverse fields of the discipline including apparel design and production, consumer behavior, historic costume and textiles, merchandising, product development, social-psychological and cultural aspects of dress, and textile science supporting well-being.

Graduates possess technical skills in problem solving, systems planning, integrative team decision making, quantitative analysis, oral and verbal communications, and computer operations. Graduates are familiar with skills useful in a business setting and the historic evolution of environmental conservation. Additionally, graduates develop an appreciation for how their discipline contributes to environmental stewardship and sustainability. Two concentrations are offered – Global Tourism and Natural Resource Tourism.

Global Tourism - Concentration
The Global Tourism concentration is focused on a unique blend of subjects. Business and tourism topics provide students with planning, management, marketing, financial, and entrepreneurship skills essential in the tourism industry. Because sustainable tourism requires a healthy natural environment, the environment is another area of study. Finally, students are provided cross-cultural experience by learning a second language, studying at a university abroad, and participating in an international internship.

It’s no secret that knowing other languages opens doors to a world of opportunities. This major offers undergraduate instruction in 10 languages, concentrations in French, German and Spanish, and opportunities for education abroad. You’ll gain the ability to communicate in another tongue, but also to analyze literary texts and films, to understand the workings of language, to appreciate diversity and to interact successfully across cultures.

Students take courses in language, literature, linguistics, culture, and practical applications such as Business German or translation and host cultural events through the German Club.
