International Year One program in Pre-Engineering will prepare you to enter your next semester of a bachelor’s degree program at Drew University. Physics
Physics provides much of the conceptual foundation and instrumentation fundamental to astronomy, engineering and other sciences. It has inspired the creative work of mathematicians, philosophers and social scientists. Drew’s program is designed to provide rigorous preparation for those planning careers in the field, while also serving the needs of liberal arts students interested in a variety of other careers.

Mathematics
Mathematics lies at the heart of the liberal arts. Based in abstraction and logical reasoning, mathematics is both a body of knowledge and an elegant and useful way of perceiving our world. Through mathematics, we can distill and describe the otherwise hidden patterns and relations among things. Because of this, mathematics finds ubiquitous application, from the natural and social sciences to the humanities and the arts. Precise abstraction and quantification play an increasingly important role in these diverse areas, and the study of mathematics can provide a foundation for any of them.

Neuroscience
The Neuroscience major at Drew is an interdisciplinary program of study that allows students to explore the brain from the perspectives of many different disciplines, including biology, chemistry, computer science, physics, philosophy, and psychology. The neuroscience curriculum introduces students to current theories that explain how the brain works at a variety of levels, from molecules to behavior. Intermediate and advanced coursework provides students with the opportunity to develop an increasingly more sophisticated understanding of neural and cognitive processes, while providing them with the critical thinking and technical skills necessary to actively address some of the pressing questions in neuroscience today. In addition, the wide range of electives provides students with the opportunity to think about the workings of the brain in a broader context, and to expand their study of neuroscience beyond its traditional roots in biology and psychology.

Finance
Drew’s STEM-designated Master of Science in Finance (MS) program is a rigorous 30 credit immersion in the quantitative and analytical methods and tools used in financial services today.

Building on Drew’s two decades of success with our unique Wall Street Semester and strong ties to the financial services industry, MS students receive the training and credentials needed to succeed in careers in a variety of organizations, including banks, financial firms, global corporations, government agencies and nonprofits.
Unique to the Drew MS in Finance program, participating students will have opportunities to apply their knowledge and skills through financial internships, in the real world, after completing classroom coursework. Likewise, Drew’s co-curricular programming includes guest lectures and trips into NYC to visit financial firms, regulators, and even nonprofits centered on promoting ethical financial behavior and financial literacy.

The digitization of information—social networks, business transactions, healthcare records and more—has transformed the world, necessitating a demand for people who understand all of the big data being collected and who can take action to help individuals, corporations and organizations become smarter, faster and ultimately more effective.

The Business major takes an integrated, multifaceted, interdisciplinary, and critical approach to the study and practice of business. Creative Writing
Creative Writing is an area of concentration within Drew’s English program that provides you with an informed understanding of depth and breadth of literature written in English, while at the same time helping you to develop your writing skills and unique voice.
We prepare you with a broad and balanced program of study that emphasizes interconnections between various literary genres as well as other disciplines such as history, science, fine arts—and more.
You’ll develop your writing through reading and writing assignments, lectures, workshops, public readings by renowned writers who visit campus—as well as many opportunities to present and discuss your work with peers and professors.

The Drew Economics Department has established three broad objectives for its economics curriculum.
