The BACHELOR OF SCIENCE IN COMPUTER SCIENCE is the largest program in the Department of Computer Science and offers a deep foundation in the main areas of computing. There are a wide range of available concentrations to pursue in fields such as cybersecurity, gaming and animation, web and mobile applications, plus flexible choices of technical electives.

Networking and Cybersecurity

The concentration in Networking and Cybersecurity is aimed at educating students in the growing field of cybersecurity.  Security of data and computer systems is one of the most important topics in today's online world. Any application or system must have ways to prevent and protect from cyber attacks, to allow secure access and protection of data stored in distributed locations accessible online. Courses in this concentration offer a hands-on approach to learning networking, security and systems programming. All courses include a significant experiential component.

The MBA in Accounting program prepares students for managerial positions in various types of organizations. The program builds on core business competencies and functional specialization to impart to its students decision analysis skills and a strategic perspective of business problems. This program is not intended to include sufficient course work in accounting and taxation to qualify students for licensure as certified public accountants. Students intending to pursue licensure may need to supplement the program requirements with other accounting, business, legal studies, and tax courses, taken under advisement.

Video, Television, and Film

The BS in Video, Television, and Film adds a film component to the video/television degree program, with courses such as advanced theatrical production, screenwriting, and cinematography; this degree also requires a media production practicum and coursework in science and computer science.

Neuroscience
Neuroscience majors combine coursework in psychology, biology, and chemistry to gain insight and understanding about how the brain, body, and nervous system work. Students who pursue a neuroscience degree often go into medicine, teaching, or research, including robotics and bioengineering.

Neuroscience is generally designed to provide rigorous preparation for advanced study in a PhD program. In addition to coursework in psychology and biology, classes in physics and chemistry are also required. Due to the interdisciplinary nature of the program, it's not unusual for some classes to be co-taught by biology and psychology professors in order to give each discipline their proper perspective.

Coursework may prepare students to become medical scientists, who form hypotheses and develop experiments. There is also growing involvement of neuroscience in the burgeoning areas of robotics, bioengineering, and artificial intelligence.

The BS in Philosophy degree is focused on philosophical areas that are relevant to another professional, technical or scientific discipline. This degree differs from the BA program primarily because it requires students to complete more requirements in a discipline outside philosophy, either through a double major or a minor.
