Video, Television, and Business

The BS in Video, Television, and Business combines an in-depth overview of television production and industry standards with coursework in legal issues, contracts, marketing, and management. If you are interested in working on the business side of media and entertainment, this program will give you the specialized skills and acumen you need to make killer deals.

Neuroscience
Neuroscience majors combine coursework in psychology, biology, and chemistry to gain insight and understanding about how the brain, body, and nervous system work. Students who pursue a neuroscience degree often go into medicine, teaching, or research, including robotics and bioengineering.

Neuroscience is generally designed to provide rigorous preparation for advanced study in a PhD program. In addition to coursework in psychology and biology, classes in physics and chemistry are also required. Due to the interdisciplinary nature of the program, it's not unusual for some classes to be co-taught by biology and psychology professors in order to give each discipline their proper perspective.

Coursework may prepare students to become medical scientists, who form hypotheses and develop experiments. There is also growing involvement of neuroscience in the burgeoning areas of robotics, bioengineering, and artificial intelligence.

Drama
Prepare for a career in acting, directing, design, production, or stage management. Hofstra’s drama program will give you hands-on experience as you deepen your understanding and appreciation of the art of theater.

This is a more intensive program, with more required coursework in fine arts and art history than the BA degree. In addition, students must select a specialization from one of the following areas:

• Painting
• Design and New Media and Industrial Design
• Photography
• Sculpture
• Ceramics

In the Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering program, students can work toward a career in electrical engineering or opt for a computer engineering focus. You will first build a foundation in universal engineering theories, mathematics, and the physical sciences before moving on to more specialized courses. This program is ABET-accredited.
