Computer Engineering

The BACHELOR of SCIENCE in COMPUTER ENGINEERING program is concerned with the design of hardware and software for computing devices and systems. Computer Engineering students take a rigorous set of courses in hardware and software related topics. Graduates with a degree in computer engineering typically secure jobs that involve the design of embedded systems, mobile devices, automotive sensing and control systems and biomedical devices to name a few. They are also capable of working in software roles such as software engineering and web and mobile development.

Web and Mobile Engineering

The concentration in Web and Mobile Engineering is aimed at educating students in the field of Web and mobile computer applications. This is a continually growing and changing field. Almost all computer applications must provide access on the Web and/or mobile devices. Courses in this concentration offer a hands-on approach to learning Web and mobile programming.

This degree offers a broad-based program, with fewer major hours and more liberal arts elective hours.

Computer Science and Mathematics: Learn to apply knowledge of mathematics, science, and engineering; design and conduct experiments; and analyze and interpret data.

Women’s Studies at Hofstra University offers interdisciplinary courses taught by full-time faculty in the arts, humanities, and social sciences who have expertise in women’s and gender issues. Many of these courses fulfill the University’s interdisciplinary distribution requirement. Hofstra offers a major and a minor in women’s studies, both of which are composed of women’s studies courses and courses offered by departments across the disciplines that address women's and gender issues. Students who major in women's studies can elect a double major in another academic discipline. Cybersecurity - Management and Policy Concentration
The MS in Cybersecurity (Technology Concentration) is intended for students who wish to obtain both technical and managerial skills in the area of security and privacy for enterprise data, systems and networks. Graduates of the concentration will be able to be:

• Design and implement software and protocols for building secure computational systems.
• Evaluate security architectures to reduce the risk of cyber-attacks, limit damage from intrusion, and recover rapidly from them.
• Create and use effective tools for security operations, security engineering, and vulnerability management.

Cybersecurity Management and Policy

The program is designed to provide students with a sound foundation in business principles, while also ensuring they have a strong understanding of the cybersecurity field. It provides the MBA students with an advanced knowledge of the technical aspects of cybersecurity as well as the interconnections between enterprise businesses and security solutions. The core coursework of cybersecurity includes threat analysis, cyber defense, penetration testing, digital forensics, privacy, regulation and policy.
