The Master of Arts in Mental Health Counseling degree is designed to provide students with the educational preparation to qualify as a licensed mental health counselor in the state of New York. The curriculum is designed to provide students with a critical knowledge base comprised of 11 content areas identified by the New York State Education Department in compliance with Article 163 of the Education Law which established mental health counseling as a licensed profession in New York state in 2006.

The Mental Health Counseling Program is designed as a clinically focused experience aimed at building the knowledge, skills and dispositions/attitudes essential for mental health counseling practice in an increasingly diverse society. The counseling program has a state-of-the-art training lab that is centrally utilized for the skills development practice of its students.

Management majors not only hit the core business curriculum, but also dig into the theory and practice in human resources, organizational behavior, ethics, leadership, innovation, strategy and sustainability, and the intricacies of the supply chain. Fine Arts

This degree is for students who may be interested in a double major in areas such as education, marketing, computer science, or film. Students have the option of a general fine arts degree, or a specialization in design, painting, or sculpture-industrial design.

The Master of Arts (MA) in Industrial/Organizational Psychology at Hofstra University prepares you for career advancement across a number of fields dealing with workplace productivity and behaviors, including human resources, training, management, consulting, coaching, and organization development. Research design, statistics, and psychology provide the foundation for advanced study in selection training, performance appraisal, worker motivation, and organization development. At Hofstra you will also gain valuable hands-on experience through internships at business and public agencies. Full-time students finish in as little as two years.

Urban Ecology
The BA program is appropriate for students whose interests in urban ecology are more focused on the social and political aspects of the field and less on the science. It is also a good choice for students planning to pursue graduate studies in other areas, such as education, geography, global studies, law, political science, or engineering.

This field is growing as sustainability becomes increasingly important to society. Urban ecologists study vegetation, water flow, wildlife, and open spaces in cities to monitor the health of these resources and how they respond to pollution, development, and other pressures. We monitor nutrient flow from lawns and industry into oceans; help design buildings and large developments to make them more sustainable and appealing; run nature and interpretive programs ranging from very small to citywide; study the effects of invasive species; and explore the positive impacts that green spaces have on biodiversity and human health.

Applied Physics - Biochemistry

The BS in Applied Physics allows students to combine the BS in Physics with a concentration in biochemistry, computer science, or engineering. The curriculum includes electives in humanities and social science to give the student a general background to supplement training as a specialist.
