International Year One in Fine and Performing Arts (2-Semester Pathway) Leading to Bachelor of Arts in Dance

This is a more intensive program, with more required coursework in fine arts and art history than the BA degree. In addition, students must select a specialization from one of the following areas:

The Master of Arts in Mental Health Counseling degree is designed to provide students with the educational preparation to qualify as a licensed mental health counselor in the state of New York. The curriculum is designed to provide students with a critical knowledge base comprised of 11 content areas identified by the New York State Education Department in compliance with Article 163 of the Education Law which established mental health counseling as a licensed profession in New York state in 2006.

The Mental Health Counseling Program is designed as a clinically focused experience aimed at building the knowledge, skills and dispositions/attitudes essential for mental health counseling practice in an increasingly diverse society. The counseling program has a state-of-the-art training lab that is centrally utilized for the skills development practice of its students.

Video/Television

The BS in Video/Television gives you a more technical, specialized approach to television and video production. Courses include advanced television technologies, multi-camera production, a media production practicum, as well as a science and computer science requirement.

This degree offers a broad-based program, with fewer major hours and more liberal arts elective hours.

Upon successful completion of the Pathway program and meeting university requirements for undergraduate admission, you may enter your next semester of undergraduate study at Hofstra University. This transition from an INTO Hofstra program to a university degree program is called progression.

Physics
The BA in Physics is best for students who are interested in teaching at the middle or high school level or are interested in technical careers that don't require graduate degrees. This degree gives students the freedom to take courses in the liberal arts and pursue other minors. The BA also makes sense for students who will be pursuing careers in law, business, or medicine.

The program will provide a superior education to undergraduate students and prepare them for business analytics careers in business, government, healthcare, and other not-for-profit organizations. It also enhances the students' analytical thinking, skills, and practical experience in this field.

Japanese Studies

The BA major in Japanese provides students with a solid foundation of Japanese language skills, including reading, writing, speaking, and listening comprehension.  In addition, through carefully selected foundational and elective courses, students gain an understanding of Japan’s literary and cultural traditions and history.  Students are encouraged to augment their study of Japanese at Hofstra with study abroad.

The BS in Video, Television, and Film adds a film component to the video/television degree program, with courses such as advanced theatrical production, screenwriting, and cinematography; this degree also requires a media production practicum and coursework in science and computer science.

Public Health

Join the next generation of innovative leaders in health with the Public Health graduate programs at Hofstra University. Build advanced expertise in assessment and research, program planning, evaluation, and policy development and get experience doing fieldwork with community organizations addressing pressing public health issues at the local, regional, and national level. Complete the Master of Public Health (MPH) full-time in as little as 13 months. We also offer an Advanced Certificate in Foundations in Public Health. Scholarships are available for qualified candidates.

Hofstra's Bachelor of Science in Mathematics with an actuarial science option, or BS in Mathematical Finance can be the ideal starting point for those mathematics majors interested in applying their skills to a career in business and industry. You can also pursue a general mathematics degree, or a more specialized program that focuses on Mathematics with Science Applications.
