Classical Civilizations

The concentration in Classical Civilizations focuses on the literatures of antiquity (taught in translation), along with additional emphases in the ancient languages, and in related areas of study within classics – for example, ancient history, philosophy, art history, and the religious traditions of Greece and Rome and early Christianity.

An INTO Hofstra Graduate Pathway program in Health Administration will prepare you to enter your next semester of a master’s degree program at Hofstra University. Upon successful completion of the Pathway program and meeting university requirements for graduate admission, you may enter your next semester of graduate study at Hofstra University. This transition from an INTO Hofstra program to a university degree program is called progression.

Health Administration

The Master of Health Administration (MHA) degree is available through an on-campus CAHME-accredited program as well as an online program. The different learning formats allow students from New York City, Long Island, and other regions to develop and strengthen their health services knowledge, communication skills, and leadership skills. MHA graduates from both programs are expected to be practice-ready professionals who contribute to their organizations and communities.

Fine Arts

This degree is for students who may be interested in a double major in areas such as education, marketing, computer science, or film. Students have the option of a general fine arts degree, or a specialization in design, painting, or sculpture-industrial design.

Children's and YA Literature

The department’s newest concentration draws on the resources and faculty expertise within the English Department and also reaches out to other areas of the University, including child psychology and literacy studies.

Early Childhood/Childhood Education

Students in this program combine the early childhood/childhood education major with an arts or science co-major from either Hofstra College of Liberal Arts and Sciences or the DeMatteis School of Engineering and Applied Science.

We recommend you choose a co-major in an academic discipline that could also be taught on the secondary level. If you major in an area like English, History, Mathematics, Foreign Language, or one of the sciences, you may be able to apply directly to New York state for additional certification in secondary education in that subject area.

Students apply to this program in their sophomore year and begin the program in their junior year.

This program focuses on information systems and information technology. Students will decide on specific technologies that they are most interested in managing: Network and cyber–security (also earn CISCO certification), web and commerce, database and big data, healthcare and enterprise systems (look for our SAP certification coming soon).

The BA in Anthropology includes classes in four fields of study: physical anthropology (also known as biological anthropology), archaeology, linguistic anthropology, and cultural anthropology. Students can take courses such as Medical Anthropology; Sex, Gender, and Sexuality Cross-Culturally; Archaeology; Forensic Anthropology; and Food & Culture.

Archaeology
The Archaeology concentration focuses on studying the past so students can learn how different civilizations have lived and have designed innovations to improve their lives. This concentration includes courses in archaeological techniques, methods and theories, artifact identification, laboratory analysis, and site interpretation.

Exercise Physiology
Use your passion for health and fitness to develop effective, science-based programs for individuals, schools, and workplaces that help improve productivity, fight disease, and inspire clients to make meaningful change in their physical and emotional well-being.

Italian
In a world brought ever closer by technology, trade, and transportation, fluency in a foreign language will make a tremendous difference in your earning power, how high you can climb the corporate ladder, and your ability to expand your professional and personal networks.

The study of languages will help you understand the world better, become more culturally sensitive, and train you to adjust to new environments quickly. Learning languages will improve your writing and train you to look at things from many points of view.
