Students in the Bachelor of Arts in Mass Media Studies program pursue one of three concentrations:

Theater Arts
For the student preparing for a career in the practice of theater as a performer, director, designer or technician. The BFA degree (in performance or production) is intended to provide a small, specialized group of such students with a high level of competence.

Computer Science and Cybersecurity

The new BACHELOR OF SCIENCE IN COMPUTER SCIENCE AND CYBERSECURITY program is designed to produce graduates who are fully qualified as computer software and hardware developers, while at the same time, able to serve as information security officers, penetration testers, and network administrators. The program provides a solid foundation of computer science, emphasizing specifically the expertise in computing systems. The BACHELOR OF SCIENCE IN COMPUTER SCIENCE is the largest program in the Department of Computer Science and offers a deep foundation in the main areas of computing. There are a wide range of available concentrations to pursue in fields such as cybersecurity, gaming and animation, web and mobile applications, plus flexible choices of technical electives.

Web and Mobile Engineering

The concentration in Web and Mobile Engineering is aimed at educating students in the field of Web and mobile computer applications. This is a continually growing and changing field. Almost all computer applications must provide access on the Web and/or mobile devices. Courses in this concentration offer a hands-on approach to learning Web and mobile programming.

Fine Arts

This degree is for students who may be interested in a double major in areas such as education, marketing, computer science, or film. Students have the option of a general fine arts degree, or a specialization in design, painting, or sculpture-industrial design.

Japanese

The study of languages will help you understand the world better, become more culturally sensitive, and train you to adjust to new environments quickly. Learning languages will improve your writing and train you to look at things from many points of view.

Drama
Prepare for a career in acting, directing, design, production, or stage management. Hofstra’s drama program will give you hands-on experience as you deepen your understanding and appreciation of the art of theater.

Do you see yourself developing the next big app or mobile game, or designing software that helps solve real-world challenges? Study the computer technology and systems that touch virtually all aspects of modern society, from business and health care to banking, government, and communication.

Lay a strong foundation in programming and application development, algorithms, computer architecture, operating systems, and software engineering, and choose from three tracks of study: Computer Science, Computer Engineering, and Cybersecurity.

Gaming and Graphics

The Concentration in Gaming and Graphics is aimed at educating students in the design and development of video games and game engines.  This is a very exciting and growing industry. Video games have permeated all segments of population and industry from entertainment to educational. All courses in this concentration include a significant experiential component.

The BA in Physics is best for students who are interested in teaching at the middle or high school level or are interested in technical careers that don't require graduate degrees. This degree gives students the freedom to take courses in the liberal arts and pursue other minors. The BA also makes sense for students who will be pursuing careers in law, business, or medicine.
