Art History
This degree offers classes in the study of art and architecture, from cave paintings to new media installations. Students learn about medieval art and works of the Italian Renaissance, the Romantic, Baroque, and Gothic Ages. They learn about artistic movements and how the study of art highlights issues related to politics, culture, and religion.

Make your mark as a strategic communications leader, one of the most critical roles of any organization, with the Master of Arts (MA) in Public Relations at Hofstra University. Our program emphasizes critical thinking and problem-solving, exceptional writing skills, and proficiency in digital platforms necessary for your success as a public relations professional.

This is a more intensive program, with more required coursework in fine arts and art history than the BA degree. In addition, students must select a specialization from one of the following areas:

• Photography
• Sculpture
• Ceramics

Take your place as an innovative leader in sports and recreation through the Master of Science in Sports Science at Hofstra University. Develop a design and implementation skill set for creating training programs that enhance athletic performance and reduce injuries.

The Strength and Conditioning concentration is designed to prepare students to work with athletes as strength and conditioning coaches in college, professional, private, and secondary school settings. Students will develop the skills necessary to design and implement population-specific training programs that enhance athletic performance and reduce injury risk. The foundation of course work is in areas of bio-mechanics, exercise physiology, performance testing, periodization, program design, and sport nutrition. In addition, all students will have opportunities to complete various fieldwork experiences.

Understanding religions and the diversity of people’s beliefs and practices is crucial for comprehending global realities, learning to bridge differences, and succeeding in any career path.  If you choose to major in religion at Hofstra University, you will learn to think critically about life's big questions and religions’ impact on everyday life, as you prepare for a vibrant career in health care, law, international business, journalism, nonprofits, the arts, or other professions. Hofstra's religion program pairs academic study with real-world application to your chosen professional path.

As a religion major you will:

• Recognize the role religion plays in public life, especially as it shapes social, political, and economic views

 Computer Engineering

The BACHELOR of SCIENCE in COMPUTER ENGINEERING program is concerned with the design of hardware and software for computing devices and systems. Computer Engineering students take a rigorous set of courses in hardware and software related topics. Graduates with a degree in computer engineering typically secure jobs that involve the design of embedded systems, mobile devices, automotive sensing and control systems and biomedical devices to name a few. They are also capable of working in software roles such as software engineering and web and mobile development.

Concentration in Gaming and Graphics
The Concentration in Gaming and Graphics is aimed at educating students in the design and development of video games and game engines.  This is a very exciting and growing industry. Video games have permeated all segments of population and industry from entertainment to educational. All courses in this concentration include a significant experiential component.

The BACHELOR OF SCIENCE IN COMPUTER SCIENCE is the largest program in the Department of Computer Science and offers a deep foundation in the main areas of computing. There are a wide range of available concentrations to pursue in fields such as cybersecurity, gaming and animation, web and mobile applications, plus flexible choices of technical electives.
