Recreation and Park Administration - Recreation Management
Recreation Management professionals plan, organize, and lead experiences for people with diverse backgrounds and interests. Experiences range from sports and crafts, to camping and other special interests. They also work in a variety of settings including parks, sport facilities, community centers, retirement villages, camps, and tourism attractions.

Students in this major put theory into practice by completing two internships. There are also opportunities to attend conferences, participate in clubs, and study abroad. These experiences help students develop a professional network.

Following a first year foundations curriculum, students can choose a sequence within an individual studio. The Department of Family and Consumer Sciences offers a Master of Science or Master of Arts degree in Family and Consumer Sciences with a sequence in Human Development and Family Science. This sequence is most appropriate for individuals interested in careers in human development and/or family science who have a human/child development and family science degree or related undergraduate degrees such as psychology, sociology, and social work.

Career opportunities for graduates are in the areas of parent and family education agencies, non-profit organizations, community outreach services, residential- and child-care facilities, and other related areas. Positions could include working as case managers, program coordinators, family/parent educators, and administrators.

The Film and Digital Media curriculum integrate creative hands-on experience with a fundamental education in film aesthetics, history, and theory.
