The bachelor’s degree in Molecular and Cellular Biology provides a solid foundation in the life sciences for students seeking careers in medicine, government, or entry-level positions in biotechnology as well as the pharmaceutical industry.

The degree also serves as a basis for graduate studies in biology. While the degree may satisfy many requirements for professional and graduate programs, it is important to consult the admission requirements for a particular program as early as possible. The Multidisciplinary Studies sequence of the Interdisciplinary Studies major is built around the offerings of two or more departments or schools. It is intended for the student who is seeking a baccalaureate degree without the specialization of a traditional major. The student, with the help of a faculty advisor, chooses the focus of the program by determining the departments or schools in which he or she wishes to pursue advanced work.

Students who complete the Multidisciplinary Studies sequence will earn a Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science degree and have their transcripts noted: "Major in Interdisciplinary Studies: Multidisciplinary Studies Sequence."

Art Teacher Education
The overall goal of the Art Teacher Education sequence in the Wonsook Kim School of Art is to prepare the next generation of art educators who promote a high level of competence and integrity in the practice of their profession. The Art Teacher Education sequence prepares students to teach art in the elementary, middle, and secondary schools.

Participants are involved in both academic and practical experiences throughout the sequence of coursework. These experiences are selected to prepare future art teachers to relate to the diverse needs and interests of children and adolescents. Contemporary philosophic issues such as visual culture, post-structuralism, and postmodernism are addressed. Also stressed are creative and critical thinking, studio techniques, technology, understanding the learner, and developing skills to become an effective teacher.

Technology and Engineering Education prepares you to be a leader in public schools. Students develop technological literacy through coursework and experiences with robotics, electronics, biotechnologies, manufacturing computer-aided design (CAD), and more. Mathematics Teacher Education
As a student in the Mathematics Education program at Illinois State University, you will be challenged, tested, supported, and you will be rewarded.

Early Childhood Education
The Early Childhood Teacher Education program at Illinois State will prepare you for a professional educator's license for teaching programs serving children birth to age 7 (grade 2). The program is recognized by the National Association of the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) and is a nationally recognized model of standards-based and performance-based teacher education.

Throughout the coursework, teacher candidates will gain the professional knowledge, skills, and experiences needed to become a highly effective parent-infant educator, special education preschool educator, public school pre-kindergarten, child care, or kindergarten through second grade teacher.
