Majors selecting this sequence will receive broad training in Zoology, including coursework related to organismal and functional aspects of Zoology.This highly flexible sequence is designed for students seeking careers that involve working with animals of any kind. This sequence will also prepare students for graduate studies in Zoology and related fields (e.g., entomology, physiology, wildlife biology, animal ecology). With additional coursework, students can meet the requirements to apply to veterinary and health professional schools.

Anthropology

Anthropology studies humans from evolution to the present day. It thrives on curiosity and seeks to answer the questions we’ve always wondered, like:

• Where do we come from?
• What does it mean to be human?
• Why do people act the way they do?
• Why are things the way they are?

The journey to these answers is fascinating and Anthropology at Illinois State tackles these big questions head-on.

As a student in our program, you’ll dive deep into cultures, language, and artifacts from the ancient past. You’ll see firsthand how anthropology has major impacts on issues we face today, like poverty, health, and social justice.

Computer scientists use computers to solve problems no one has successfully solved before. Programming is at the heart of what they do, writing and designing sophisticated code. Having a strong skill set in theory, math, logic, and science is also essential to their success.

The Computer Science program at Illinois State is accredited by the Computing Accreditation Commission of ABET.

You can find a computer science job in a variety of exciting areas. Your options for a career path can include:

Computer Science at Illinois State gives you strong skills in software development. We also provide a background in computational theory, design, hardware and operating systems. You’ll learn how to use multiple programming languages on multiple operating systems.

Journalism is changing rapidly in the 21st century, with stories moving across a range of platforms – from television and the web to radio, newspapers and magazines, as well as across social networks like Twitter and Facebook. This means that the budding journalist needs to know not only how to gather facts and write informative stories, but also how to work with audio and video clips, create and use web sites, and be adept at distributing news through social media.

Studio Arts Wood/Metals
The Wonsook Kim School of Art offers a comprehensive list of sequence options for a student interested in Studio Arts. The following are offered as areas of specialization: Ceramics, Drawing, Expanded Media, Glass, Printmaking, Painting, Photography, Sculpture, Video, and Wood / Metal Design.

Following a first year foundations curriculum, students can choose a sequence within an individual studio. Within each sequence, faculty are actively engaged in introducing students to various technical skills and ideas specific to that discipline. The cohesive sequencing of courses within each studio area allows the student to build skills and knowledge towards a highly sophisticated level of work in that field of exploration.

Public Service is a 32-hour sequence of the master's degree in Political Science. The Public Service sequence is designed for students interested in employment in the public sector, particularly at the state and local level.
