Biology Teacher Education
The School of Biological Sciences at Illinois State University has a longstanding tradition in training biology teachers. Students complete a rigorous program that includes professional education courses as well as laboratory-intensive biology coursework. Students will become licensed to teach all high school science courses (biology, physics, chemistry, and earth science), including AP and honors biology.

Accountancy
The primary objective of the Master of Science in Accountancy program is to provide candidates preparing for professional careers in accounting a greater breadth and depth in accounting education than is possible in a baccalaureate or Master of Business Administration program.

The degree builds upon the broad framework of the undergraduate degree in accounting. Graduate accounting courses emphasize study of current accounting literature, critical thinking, case studies, accounting theory, and written and oral communication. Class sizes are designed to be small to encourage interaction between the professor and each student.

The Agricultural Education and Leadership sequence is designed to advance student's skills and knowledge in the field of both formal and informal agricultural education. Through a cross-disciplinary approach utilizing courses and resources from a variety of departments and programs on campus, individuals can tailor a program to provide the skills and knowledge to advance the student in their career.

The Financial Economics sequence provides students training in the financial theory of the firm, financial markets and institutions to complement their training in applied economics analysis. It is designed for students who have an interest in employment opportunities in the financial sector such as investment and commercial banks, economic and financial asset management companies, and consulting firms, or who are interested in pursuing a Ph.D. degree.

Agriculture - Crop and Soil Science
The Crop and Soil Science sequence emphasizes the scientific aspects of agronomy including improving plant production, quality, and profit by utilizing plant genetics and breeding and improving the soil physical, chemical and microbial characteristics to enhance crop production.

The English Teacher Education program (ETE) is an English Studies sequence in the Department of English (College of Arts and Sciences) at Illinois State University. Admitted teacher candidates will prepare to become effective secondary (grades 9-12) English Language Arts (ELA) teachers in diverse classrooms. Coursework in the 46-hour major develops content knowledge and discipline-specific methods by addressing how theory and research support best practices in integrated language arts skills pedagogy.

The Web Application Development major is a sequence in Information Systems.

The internet hosts many web applications. From search engines to recommendations on what your next online purchase should be, web applications are the intelligence behind the websites we visit every day.

In this major, you learn how to code and design web applications that solve real-world issues and power engaging websites. We cover topics such as:

• Client and server-side scripting – write instructions for either a web browser or server to perform
• Web interface design – make sure websites are easy to use
• Web frameworks – create templates that make the development process faster
• Mobile application development – design software for smartphones and tablets
• Web database processing – learn how information is stored and retrieved on the internet
• Web application testing and evaluation – identify weaknesses in software and come up with solutions

This means that the budding journalist needs to know not only how to gather facts and write informative stories, but also how to work with audio and video clips, create and use web sites, and be adept at distributing news through social media.
