The Department of Family and Consumer Sciences offers a Master of Science or Master of Arts degree in Family and Consumer Sciences with a sequence in Human Development and Family Science. This sequence is most appropriate for individuals interested in careers in human development and/or family science who have a human/child development and family science degree or related undergraduate degrees such as psychology, sociology, and social work.

Music - New Media Composition
We hear original music content everywhere via video games, films, television shows, or online media. Students interested in creating original music composition content for new media such as these should major in New Media Composition.

Students take classes from faculty of both the School of Music and the Creative Technologies Program. They will have the opportunity to have original compositions for acoustic instruments read by large ensembles such as the Illinois State University Symphony Orchestra, Illinois State University Wind Symphony, and the Illinois State University choral ensembles. In addition, they will take courses from Creative Technologies faculty on the latest technology topics in sound editing, sound design, and virtual reality programming.

New Media Composition students are able to receive readings and performances by world-class guest artists and student ensembles and work with Creative Technologies faculty on cutting edge technology projects in sound design, virtual reality environment design, and multi-media composition.

Following a first year foundations curriculum, students can choose a sequence within an individual studio. Within each sequence, faculty are actively engaged in introducing students to various technical skills and ideas specific to that discipline. The cohesive sequencing of courses within each studio area allows the student to build skills and knowledge towards a highly sophisticated level of work in that field of exploration.

The Geology program at Illinois State gives you a strong foundation and awareness of these processes. Our traditional approach to teaching prepares you for graduate school or a career. The Multidisciplinary Studies sequence of the Interdisciplinary Studies major is built around the offerings of two or more departments or schools. It is intended for the student who is seeking a baccalaureate degree without the specialization of a traditional major. The student, with the help of a faculty advisor, chooses the focus of the program by determining the departments or schools in which he or she wishes to pursue advanced work.

Students who complete the Multidisciplinary Studies sequence will earn a Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science degree and have their transcripts noted: "Major in Interdisciplinary Studies: Multidisciplinary Studies Sequence."
