An INTO Illinois State University International Year One in Science, Applied Sciences and Technology will prepare you to enter your next semester of a bachelor’s degree program at Illinois State University. Mathematics
The Mathematics sequence in the Mathematics major first provides students with a strong foundation in Mathematics and then gives students the flexibility to explore various aspects of the discipline.

There is also the flexibility within the Mathematics major for a student to pursue a minor in a related field of study. Such a program can prepare students for jobs in industry and government as well as prepare students for graduate study in Mathematics.

The specialist program in School Psychology is approved by the National Association of School Psychologists (NASP), the Council for Accreditation of Teacher Educator Preparation (CAEP), and the Illinois State Board of Education. We provide our students with comprehensive curriculum, high quality training, and properly supervised field experiences that are consistent with NASP Standards for Graduate Preparation of School Psychologists (2010). The mission of the specialist program, which emphasizes the scientist-practitioner model of training, is to develop entry-level competencies in our graduates so they can function as school psychologists in public and private schools. The specialist degree can be completed in three years with full time enrollment on campus for two years and a 9-month internship.

The Master of Music in String Pedagogy prepares students to become highly qualified and knowledgeable string teachers who will be prepared to pursue a career in teaching strings in a variety of settings or pursue a doctoral degree.

 The curriculum includes:

• String pedagogy and literature
• Professional practice
• Applied lessons on primary and secondary stringed instruments)
• And core music courses, i.e. music theory, history, and research methods
• Electives - chamber music, non-degree recitals, etc.

String Pedagogy students will gain critical professional practice experience working in the nationally recognized ISU String Project (large group, small group, and private lessons) as well as through teaching the MusicScores! curriculum at local Head Start preschool sites.

Illinois State's award-winning and nationally recognized Spanish Teacher Education major prepares graduates for K-12 teaching, while offering a dynamic interdisciplinary approach for exploring the diverse Spanish-speaking world.

Language coursework prepares students to achieve Advanced-Low or higher proficiency, an endeavor supported by study abroad programs in Chile, Panama, and Spain. Award-winning co-curricular activities, carried out by the Spanish Club and the Sigma Delta Pi (National Collegiate Spanish Honor Society), also help students develop their speaking skills and learn more about Spanish-speaking communities.

Economics - Financial Economic
The Financial Economics sequence provides students training in the financial theory of the firm, financial markets and institutions to complement their training in applied economics analysis. It is designed for students who have an interest in employment opportunities in the financial sector such as investment and commercial banks, economic and financial asset management companies, and consulting firms, or who are interested in pursuing a Ph.D. degree.

This is a STEM designated degree, which focuses on the systematic study of mathematical and statistical analysis of economic phenomena and problems. STEM designated degree programs offer additional benefits for students, including potential grant funded opportunities and, for international students, extended OPT study options.

Cybersecurity professionals protect data in computers and networks from crimes such as hacking and data theft.

Illinois State’s Cybersecurity major focuses on security basics, cryptography, ethical hacking, security defenses, and forensics. It covers current tools and techniques, and managing security risks.

To be successful in these areas, you'll get a background in programming and networking as well as basic knowledge of computer hardware and systems software.

Global Politics is a 32-hour sequence of the master's degree in Political Science. This graduate program is designed for students interested in the increasingly interconnected politics of the modern world.

The Global Politics sequence ends in a thesis or comprehensive examination.

The Communication Studies - Interpersonal sequence focuses on communication interaction between individuals and the impact each has on the other. The program provides a grounding in the power of communication to affect outcomes and relations across a variety of settings. Often, coursework may examine relationship development in families, social settings, and work.

Typical careers include social services, human relations, interpersonal consulting, affirmative actions, sales, and counseling.
