Students graduating from the Graphic Design program can pursue successful careers in client-based design or self-initiated research. You'll have opportunities to work at design studios, advertising agencies, and diverse corporations or institutions.

Our alumni continue to be a part of the Wonsook Kim School of Art after graduation and we continue to harness professional relationships and networking connections between them and our current students through social media and CrossPlatform, the Graphic Design student club.

Actuarial Science
The Actuarial Program at Illinois State University is a Center for Actuarial Excellence, one of the first nine academic programs in the United States to receive that recognition in 2009, and the first one in the State of Illinois. It is one of the leading actuarial programs in the United States, offering an undergraduate Bachelor degree, and a graduate Master degree. The program combines high quality education in all areas of actuarial theory with serious commitment to actuarial practice and professionalism.

Quantitative Economics is an interdisciplinary program between the Economics and the Mathematics departments. The sequence is designed for students who intend to pursue a double Master’s in Applied Economics and Mathematics/Statistics, for students interested in the quantitative aspects of Economics, and/or for students interested in enhancing their mathematics skills to pursue a Ph.D. in Economics in the future.

In addition to 22 hours of core courses in economic theory, you will take 12 or more hours of graduate-level math courses.

This is a STEM designated degree, which focuses on the systematic study of mathematical and statistical analysis of economic phenomena and problems. STEM designated degree programs offer additional benefits for students, including potential grant funded opportunities and, for international students, extended OPT study options.

Music Composition
Many people do not start pursuing composition until late in their music studies. Students who enjoy improvising or learning about how music is put together may be composers. Illinois State University composition majors receive reading sessions from nationally prominent ensembles such as Ensemble Dal Niente, Fulcrum Point, and ensemble mise-en. Our annual Red Note New Music Festival brings in prestigious composers such as Pulitzer Prize winners Steven Stucky and William Bolcom to campus.

Creative Technologies - Interdisciplinary Technologies
The interdisciplinary Creative Technologies major emphasizes design and practice in the integration of digital technologies and the fine arts.

In addition to foundational study across the fine arts, the major provides training and experiences across a range of creative/technical fields, including:

Network and Telecommunications Management
Network and telecommunications systems are the backbone of the information age. They include systems we use every day, such as the internet, text messaging, and watching TV. Their main goal is to send a message from one point to another without losing or changing the message.

Professionals in the field design and manage networks. They keep up with technology trends and adapt networks to meet current needs.

The Network and Telecommunications Management major studies the theory and application of cutting-edge technology. We also cover policy issues dealing with data, image, video, and voice delivery. Understanding these policies is essential when designing and managing networks.

Marketing - Advanced Marketing Analytics
The Marketing faculty have designed the Advanced Marketing Analytics (AMA) sequence to allow Marketing majors to concentrate their coursework in preparation for marketing roles that may require more analytical rigor which has become prevalent. The use of analytics is expected to grow rapidly. Students complete three required courses in Business Analytics or Business Intelligence and Introduction to Marketing Analytics and Advanced Marketing Analytics. Students also complete three electives in areas such as Brand Management & Analytics, Sales Forecasting, and others.

Mathematics
The Mathematics sequence in the Mathematics major first provides students with a strong foundation in Mathematics and then gives students the flexibility to explore various aspects of the discipline.

There is also the flexibility within the Mathematics major for a student to pursue a minor in a related field of study. Such a program can prepare students for jobs in industry and government as well as prepare students for graduate study in Mathematics.

Management - Human Resource Management

• The Human Resource Management sequence emphasizes effective, leading-edge human resources management in all organizational settings.
• The purpose of the sequence is to provide students with skills and knowledge in human resource management consistent with the current needs of organizations. Students electing this sequence will acquire specific, in-depth skills necessary to assist organizations in the effective utilization of employee skills and talents.

Computer Science

Master of Science in Computer Science (MSCS) at Illinois State gives you the knowledge and tools necessary to study important issues in computer science to obtain productive employment or pursue advanced degrees.

Our program emphasizes foundational knowledge in computer science and programmatic application of fundamental concepts in leading-edge applications.

It is appropriate for a range of students, including industry computing professionals seeking career advancement, students wishing to expand on their undergraduate computer science work and/or prepare for doctoral degree, and individuals wishing to make a career change.
