The Accounting - Career Specialty sequence allows accounting majors to design an individualized plan of study that meets their career goals. In addition to the required accounting courses, students complete 12 hours in a specialized area with advice and approval of the accounting academic advisor and the department chair.

Health and Human Performance
Exercise Science is the study of movement and the associated functional responses and adaptations the body makes as a result of movement/exercise.

The Health and Human Performance (HHP) sequence gives you a well-rounded foundation in areas of Exercise Science, including physiology, biomechanics, and sports psychology. HHP also studies how different exercises and fitness programs affect the human body.

Biology Teacher Education
The School of Biological Sciences at Illinois State University has a longstanding tradition in training biology teachers. Students complete a rigorous program that includes professional education courses as well as laboratory-intensive biology coursework. Students will become licensed to teach all high school science courses (biology, physics, chemistry, and earth science), including AP and honors biology.

Management - Human Resource Management
The Human Resource Management sequence emphasizes effective, leading-edge human resources management in all organizational settings.The purpose of the sequence is to provide students with skills and knowledge in human resource management consistent with the current needs of organizations. Students electing this sequence will acquire specific, in-depth skills necessary to assist organizations in the effective utilization of employee skills and talents.

Global Politics is a 32-hour sequence of the master's degree in Political Science. This graduate program is designed for students interested in the increasingly interconnected politics of the modern world.

The Global Politics sequence ends in a thesis or comprehensive examination.

Special Education - Specialist in Low Vision and Blindness

• Teachers of children with visual impairments work with learners who are blind or who have low vision, from preschool through high school.
• There is a severe shortage of teachers in this area. Many students in our Low Vision and Blindness sequence do not have difficulty finding a job after they graduate.

The Applied Community and Economic Development (ACED) sequence is an interdisciplinary program that enables those who are passionate about social change through service to take their careers to the next level. The sequence is designed for returned Peace Corps Volunteers and students with other development experiences (e.g., AmeriCorps, nonprofit work). The Stevenson Center for Community and Economic Development coordinates these programs for Fellows, who spend an intense year on campus followed by an 11-month paid professional practice. ACED sequence students have a graduate assistantship in the fall and spring semesters on campus prior to field work.  Students pursuing this sequence receive a solid and relevant educational opportunity to pursue careers in community and economic development in the United States and around the world.

Geology
Geology studies how the Earth works and its history. It’s a field-based science that takes you outside the classroom and into nature. It offers plenty of variety by incorporating principles of chemistry, physics, biology, and math.

Professional geologists study earth processes like landslides, earthquakes, and rock formation. Understanding these activities is essential to sustaining life on Earth.

The Geology program at Illinois State gives you a strong foundation and awareness of these processes. Our traditional approach to teaching prepares you for graduate school or a career. Once you complete our program, you can get licensed and begin a career in the environmental, energy, and minerals industries.

The Individualized sequence of the Interdisciplinary Studies major allows a student, with the help of a faculty sponsor, to design a specialized program of study not otherwise offered by the University. This is intended for the student whose specific interests cannot be accommodated within existing programs.

Some topics chosen by students include Classical Civilization, Three Dimensional Design, and International Public Relations. The Individualized sequence is typically a second or auxiliary major but may be proposed as a primary major.

Economics - General Economics
Economics is the study of how to critically evaluate problems and make well-reasoned decisions. As such, the Economics major is particularly well suited to prepare students for the career challenges in the 21st century by helping them develop important skills, including the ability to apply a general framework of analysis for solving real-world problems, conduct mathematical and statistical analysis, work with data to address specific issues, and effectively communicate, in written and oral form, with others.

A student can earn either a B.S. or a B.A. degree in Economics. The major offers students the flexibility to select a set of courses that simultaneously satisfy the requirements of the major while focusing on a specific area such as business or pre-law. The curriculum is highlighted by a senior project required of Economics majors that gives each student an opportunity to work with an individual faculty member on a research project selected by the student.

The requirement of 33 hours allows the flexibility to consider a second major or minor as a way to expand your career possibilities and distinguish yourself from your peers. The list of majors students most frequently combine with Economics includes Business Administration, Mathematics, Computer Science, and Political Science.
