Criminal Justice Sciences

• The criminal justice program at Illinois State examines policing, courts, and corrections. We do this with a social science point of view. As a student, you'll explore human behavior and take an in-depth look at the issues and circumstances that lead to crime. This gives you a well-rounded perspective and prepares you to be a leader for positive change.    
• You'll also gain all the skills you need to be successful in your career. We'll teach you how to interview, develop programs, promote community well-being, and analyze crime hotspots.

The Bachelor of Music Education (BME) provides the foundation of critical skills and knowledge necessary for our teacher candidates' preparation towards licensure. Most importantly, these experiences help foster a strong educational philosophy focused on leadership and service to all students so that their lives are affected by the beauty of music.

You get to study with Music Education faculty who are committed to undergraduate teacher education. They are recognized nationally for their expertise and provide leadership and service in professional organizations and affiliations at the local, state, national and international levels.

Students seeking a Bachelor of Music Education choose from one of four sequences based upon your primary performance area (brass, percussion, piano, strings, voice, or woodwind), including:

Studio Arts Ceramics
The Wonsook Kim School of Art offers a comprehensive list of sequence options for a student interested in Studio Arts. The following are offered as areas of specialization: Ceramics, Drawing, Expanded Media, Glass, Printmaking, Painting, Photography, Sculpture, Video, and Wood / Metal Design.

Following a first year foundations curriculum, students can choose a sequence within an individual studio. Within each sequence, faculty are actively engaged in introducing students to various technical skills and ideas specific to that discipline. The cohesive sequencing of courses within each studio area allows the student to build skills and knowledge towards a highly sophisticated level of work in that field of exploration.

Biology Teacher Education
The School of Biological Sciences at Illinois State University has a longstanding tradition in training biology teachers. Students complete a rigorous program that includes professional education courses as well as laboratory-intensive biology coursework. Students will become licensed to teach all high school science courses (biology, physics, chemistry, and earth science), including AP and honors biology.

The major in Psychology requires a capstone experience, which provides students with challenging opportunities to apply their knowledge of psychology to research, teaching, or practice endeavors. Students can work with faculty in the classroom or their research labs, or study specific topics of the student's interest.

The Department of Psychology has also established an extensive internship program that gives students opportunities to apply their knowledge in a work setting in the local community. The Research Apprenticeship Program, Undergraduate Teaching Assistantship Program, and Internship Program are designed to give students practical experiences beyond their academic coursework.

Music - Music Conducting

Students pursuing the Master of Music in Conducting are given extensive podium time and are mentored by dedicated and active conducting faculty. Upon graduation students are prepared to:

• Seek their doctoral degree
• Conduct school, church or community ensembles
• Conduct at a community college or university

The curriculum includes:

• Applied conducting
• Analysis for conductors
• Research
• Practicum in conducting
• Electives chosen from courses like non-degree recitals, music technology, music history, music theory, music education, music therapy, music business, jazz studies, ensembles, and non-music courses

Psychology

The anthropology master's program at Illinois State is flexible and individualized. With only two required courses, you can work with an advisor to design a curriculum that engages you and helps you achieve your goals.

Our graduate program builds on our fully developed four-field program in archaeology, anthropological linguistics, cultural anthropology, and biological anthropology. Within that, we offer five concentrations:

• Prehistoric Archaeology
• Historical Archaeology

• Cultural Anthropology
• Japanese Studies

You'll dive deep into your concentration inside and outside the classroom. We offer lots of research opportunities. On top of a thesis, you can work side-by-side with faculty on projects that make major contributions to the anthropology field.

 The Master of Music in Collaborative Piano curriculum include collaboration with a myriad of instruments/voice ins:

• Large ensembles

Electives may include courses such as:

The MM in Collaborative Piano prepares graduates for employment as:

• A professional accompanist
• A chamber music musician
• A teacher of accompanying and/or chamber music.
