Music Therapy
The Music Therapy sequence provides academic content and clinical experiences related to competencies outlined by the American Music Therapy Association.

Early Childhood Education
The Early Childhood Teacher Education program at Illinois State will prepare you for a professional educator's license for teaching programs serving children birth to age 7 (grade 2). At some time in our lives almost all of us have asked ourselves what is the right thing to do, and have wondered about the nature of human existence, the structure of reality, and our duties to each other, to animals, and to the environment. The study of philosophy provides the opportunity to address these and other profound topics and questions in a critical and systematic way.

The Department of Family and Consumer Sciences offers a Master of Science in Nutrition degree that is designed for professionals seeking advanced study in nutrition, dietetics, or food and nutrition management. The program provides a variety of opportunities to increase capacity for inquiry, logical thinking, critical analysis, synthesis, and leadership as they apply theory to practice.

Public Relations
The Public Relations major prepares students to research, plan, execute, and evaluate communication between an organization and its publics, monitor the organization's environment, and counsel management on policies and programs. The major is designed to prepare students to help private industry and public organizations improve the quality of communication among themselves, their employees, the general public and government.

The graduate sequence in Art Education emphasizes both theory and practice in visual arts, museum, and community arts education. Theoretical ideas are explored through both historical and contemporary models, including culturally responsive, anti-racist, and social-emotional approaches, with an emphasis on practical education and application. You will have the chance to elaborate concepts in tranditional and digital media while interacting and collaborating with stakeholders in a range of settings. Students with a bachelor's or master's degree can pursue an M.S. degree in Art Education while working toward licensure.

Technology and Engineering Education
Technology and Engineering Education prepares you to be a leader in public schools. Students develop technological literacy through coursework and experiences with robotics, electronics, biotechnologies, manufacturing computer-aided design (CAD), and more. This program is ideal for those who like to solve problems, work with their hands, and want to work with school-aged children.

The Master of Music in Jazz Performance program prepares students to improve as a jazz performer and improviser. The curriculum includes:

• Private jazz instruction
• Small and large ensembles
• Improvisation
• Other traditional academic music courses such as research, history and literature, etc.

Students are required to perform at least one graduate jazz recital.

The primary objective of the Master of Science in Accountancy program is to provide candidates preparing for professional careers in accounting a greater breadth and depth in accounting education than is possible in a baccalaureate or Master of Business Administration program.

The degree builds upon the broad framework of the undergraduate degree in accounting. Graduate accounting courses emphasize study of current accounting literature, critical thinking, case studies, accounting theory, and written and oral communication. Class sizes are designed to be small to encourage interaction between the professor and each student.

Chemistry Teacher Education
Illinois State's rate of teacher graduation places it among the Top 10 educators of teachers in the nation. Nearly 1 of every 7 teachers in the classrooms of Illinois' public schools holds a degree from Illinois State University. Approximately one-half of all secondary school teachers in downstate Illinois currently hold teaching degrees from Illinois State.

The demand for chemistry teachers is great in both Illinois and across the nation. We need more beginning chemistry teachers over the next 10 years than teacher education programs can currently produce. Illinois State's Chemistry Teacher Education program is fully accredited by the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE) and the National Science Teachers Association (NSTA). The Department of Chemistry is one of the nation's top producers of degrees certified by the American Chemical Society.
