Biology - Zoology
Majors selecting this sequence will receive broad training in Zoology, including coursework related to organismal and functional aspects of Zoology.This highly flexible sequence is designed for students seeking careers that involve working with animals of any kind. This sequence will also prepare students for graduate studies in Zoology and related fields (e.g., entomology, physiology, wildlife biology, animal ecology). With additional coursework, students can meet the requirements to apply to veterinary and health professional schools.

Illinois State University proudly houses the only Dance Teacher Education licensure program within the state of Illinois. We are uniquely positioned to fully prepare undergraduate students interested in teaching careers in the public schools, as well as in the private sector. We provide a challenging yet nurturing environment that prepares students for the diverse career options within the field of Dance Education, helping them achieve teacher licensure for grades 9–12.

Students in this sequence will develop a range of knowledge, skills, and competencies consistent with national and state dance standards while preparing them for a variety of diverse teaching experiences. The structure of the Dance Teacher Education sequence is based on our belief that technical, creative, theoretical, and kinesthetic work will merge to support one's total growth as a dancer and educator.

The program is supported by a diverse and ambitious nationally recognized faculty, bringing a wide variety of movement styles and teaching philosophies to the program. Dancers will develop their knowledge and skills through coursework that includes choreography and improvisation, dance history, multicultural perspectives, dance kinesiology, dance pedagogy, and professional development courses that focus on different teaching methods.

As a crowning achievement, students complete a Senior Seminar course alongside a semester of student teaching, helping them achieve the practical experience necessary for working in the profession. Additionally, students have opportunities to study abroad, work with a variety of guest teachers, and network with Illinois State alumni currently teaching in the field.

Political Science
Students in Political Science at Illinois State University have some of the greatest opportunities for learning and growth, both as individuals and within the field as a whole. The Department of Politics and Government provides a variety of resources for its majors, an assortment of different student organizations, small class sizes, and full-time faculty teaching all levels of coursework.

The Spanish program at Illinois State University takes pride in offering small classes where students receive individualized attention and training in all aspects of language proficiency. Just as important, our undergraduates develop critical thinking skills and appreciation for diversity as they take courses in Hispanic cultures and literatures, as well as Spanish linguistics.

Our slate of offerings includes a sturdy base of fundamentals, on which students build their own program from a selection of electives of most interest to them. We also provide community-based service learning experiences and opportunities to participate in award-winning student organizations like our Spanish Club and Sigma Delta Pi, Illinois State's chapter of the National Collegiate Hispanic Honor Society.

Geology
Geology studies how the Earth works and its history. It’s a field-based science that takes you outside the classroom and into nature. It offers plenty of variety by incorporating principles of chemistry, physics, biology, and math.

Professional geologists study earth processes like landslides, earthquakes, and rock formation. Understanding these activities is essential to sustaining life on Earth.

The Geology program at Illinois State gives you a strong foundation and awareness of these processes. Our traditional approach to teaching prepares you for graduate school or a career. Once you complete our program, you can get licensed and begin a career in the environmental, energy, and minerals industries.

General Computer Science
Computer scientists use computers to solve problems no one has successfully solved before. Programming is at the heart of what they do, writing and designing sophisticated code. Having a strong skill set in theory, math, logic, and science is also essential to their success.

The Computer Science program at Illinois State is accredited by the Computing Accreditation Commission of ABET.

You can find a computer science job in a variety of exciting areas. Your options for a career path can include:

• Software development
• Graphics
• Artificial intelligence (including machine learning)
• Game development
• Systems programming

Computer Science at Illinois State gives you strong skills in software development. We also provide a background in computational theory, design, hardware and operating systems. You’ll learn how to use multiple programming languages on multiple operating systems.

Creative Technologies - Game DesignThe Game Design Sequence in the Creative Technologies (CTK) program at Illinois State lets you forge your own paths in the industry.

You can choose to focus on one of the many fields, including:

• Design and development
• Animation and modeling
• Sound design and music

As a game design student, you'll be able to experiment with different fields, discover your passion, and do what you want to do.

We'll also teach you about future directions and experimental technologies for gaming and imagine further innovations for the industry.

Art - Graphic Design
Graphic Design at Illinois State fosters a collaborative environment engaging you with print and emerging digital media. Our program prepares you to contribute to positive change for the betterment of society.

Students graduating from the Graphic Design program can pursue successful careers in client-based design or self-initiated research. You'll have opportunities to work at design studios, advertising agencies, and diverse corporations or institutions.

Our alumni continue to be a part of the Wonsook Kim School of Art after graduation and we continue to harness professional relationships and networking connections between them and our current students through social media and CrossPlatform, the Graphic Design student club.

We offer three programs in Graphic Design: Bachelor of Arts (BA), Bachelor of Science (BS) and Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA).

Agriculture - Horticulture and Landscape Management
The Horticulture and Landscape Management sequence includes courses in horticultural management and business operations. Graduates of the Horticulture and Landscape Management sequence are employed nationwide in the landscape design/build/maintenance, turf grass, greenhouse and nursery industries.
