Dance Teacher Education
Illinois State University proudly houses the only Dance Teacher Education licensure program within the state of Illinois. We are uniquely positioned to fully prepare undergraduate students interested in teaching careers in the public schools, as well as in the private sector. We provide a challenging yet nurturing environment that prepares students for the diverse career options within the field of Dance Education, helping them achieve teacher licensure for grades 9–12.

Students in this sequence will develop a range of knowledge, skills, and competencies consistent with national and state dance standards while preparing them for a variety of diverse teaching experiences. The structure of the Dance Teacher Education sequence is based on our belief that technical, creative, theoretical, and kinesthetic work will merge to support one's total growth as a dancer and educator.

The program is supported by a diverse and ambitious nationally recognized faculty, bringing a wide variety of movement styles and teaching philosophies to the program. Dancers will develop their knowledge and skills through coursework that includes choreography and improvisation, dance history, multicultural perspectives, dance kinesiology, dance pedagogy, and professional development courses that focus on different teaching methods.

As a crowning achievement, students complete a Senior Seminar course alongside a semester of student teaching, helping them achieve the practical experience necessary for working in the profession. Additionally, students have opportunities to study abroad, work with a variety of guest teachers, and network with Illinois State alumni currently teaching in the field.

Theatre Studies

The Theatre Studies major provides you with a broad-based, hands-on education in theatre within the context of a liberal arts degree. After completing a strong core of theatre courses, you have the flexibility to choose specialty courses based on your interests and career orientation in the following areas:

• Stage directing
• Playwriting
• Theatre history
• Creative drama and puppetry
• Integrated performance
• Theatre management
• Film studies

You’ll receive a well-rounded educational experience, from academic pursuit in history, criticism, dramaturgy, and theory, to creative participation in the performing arts.

Because student needs and interests vary, there is flexibility in the Mathematics master's degree program at Illinois State University. In addition to allowing students to get a strong general background in mathematics, our program allows students to concentrate in:

• Secondary mathematics education
• Atatistics
• Actuarial science
• Biomathematics
• Preparation for teaching at a community college level

Statistics is the science and art of making inferences from data, under conditions of uncertainty. The practice of Statistics requires not only the understanding of the statistical techniques, but also understanding of the problem requiring statistical analysis, whether it is in the liberal arts, the sciences, health sciences, or business.

The Statistics sequence has an interdisciplinary component so that this program will help develop skills in the application of Statistics to a variety of disciplines.

The Business Education major at Illinois State University combines the solid foundation of a business degree with preparation needed to become a business and compter education teacher.  The program is the only K-12 Business Education program in the state, and the only dedicated business education program at a public institution.  There is a shortage of business teachers in the state.

The Business Education graduate is prepared to teach all business and information technology courses, including business, accounting, business law, information processing/keyboarding, computer applications, consumer economics, marketing, entrepreneurship, business communications, web design, digital media, and many more.

Biology - Molecular and Cellular Biology
The bachelor’s degree in Molecular and Cellular Biology provides a solid foundation in the life sciences for students seeking careers in medicine, government, or entry-level positions in biotechnology as well as the pharmaceutical industry.

The degree also serves as a basis for graduate studies in biology. While the degree may satisfy many requirements for professional and graduate programs, it is important to consult the admission requirements for a particular program as early as possible. Additional coursework may be taken as electives to support later postgraduate work.

Management - Human Resource Management
The Human Resource Management sequence emphasizes effective, leading-edge human resources management in all organizational settings.The purpose of the sequence is to provide students with skills and knowledge in human resource management consistent with the current needs of organizations. Students electing this sequence will acquire specific, in-depth skills necessary to assist organizations in the effective utilization of employee skills and talents.

The Agribusiness sequence is designed to advance students' knowledge of the theories of agribusiness management and the science of agricultural production and their application to decisions made by agribusiness managers. The academic content of this sequence concentrates on agricultural economics and business management subjects.
