The Wonsook Kim School of Art offers a comprehensive list of sequence options for a student interested in Studio Arts. The following are offered as areas of specialization: Ceramics, Drawing, Expanded Media, Glass, Printmaking, Painting, Photography, Sculpture, Video, and Wood / Metal Design.

Following a first year foundations curriculum, students can choose a sequence within an individual studio. Within each sequence, faculty are actively engaged in introducing students to various technical skills and ideas specific to that discipline. The cohesive sequencing of courses within each studio area allows the student to build skills and knowledge towards a highly sophisticated level of work in that field of exploration.

The Computer Systems Technology program prepares technology professionals to manage computer systems and develop applications in a variety of settings. Students develop knowledge and communication skills to successfully collaborate on projects.

Health and Human Performance
Exercise Science is the study of movement and the associated functional responses and adaptations the body makes as a result of movement/exercise.

The Health and Human Performance (HHP) sequence gives you a well-rounded foundation in areas of Exercise Science, including physiology, biomechanics, and sports psychology. HHP also studies how different exercises and fitness programs affect the human body.

Biomechanics is the study of forces and their effects on living systems.

The graduate program studies how biomechanics relate to performance enhancement and injury prevention. Students apply what they learn and serve as movement analysts in sports and workplaces. At the end of the program, they complete a thesis, independent study, or professional practice.

Depending on individual career aspirations, completion of the Biomechanics sequence prepares a student for future study at the doctoral level, for employment as a research assistant with a corporate entity, or to serve as a member of a workplace safety team.

Elementary Education - Bilingual/Bicultural Teacher Education
Focusing on the Spanish language and Hispanic cultures, the Elementary Education-Bilingual/Bicultural Teacher Education program at Illinois State prepares future teachers for state approval or endorsement to teach in bilingual elementary classrooms. You will be prepared for a professional educator's license in grades 1-6.

Candidates for this program experience a yearlong Professional Development School (PDS) internship in a bilingual classroom in Chicago, Elgin, Palatine, or Wheeling. Graduates of our program are certificated to teach in Spanish/English-bilingual elementary classrooms, English-speaking elementary classrooms, and often have a minor in Spanish or English as a Second Language (ESL) endorsement.

The Agricultural Education and Leadership sequence is designed to advance student's skills and knowledge in the field of both formal and informal agricultural education. Through a cross-disciplinary approach utilizing courses and resources from a variety of departments and programs on campus, individuals can tailor a program to provide the skills and knowledge to advance the student in their career.

Music Therapy
The Music Therapy sequence provides academic content and clinical experiences related to competencies outlined by the American Music Therapy Association.

Students who complete the Music Therapy degree are eligible to sit for the national board certification exam to obtain the credential MT-BC (Music Therapist - Board Certified), which is necessary for professional practice.

Information Systems - Systems Development/Analyst

IS professionals play a key role in the success and efficiency of an organization. Their analytical skills and understanding of information technology enable them to evaluate business issues and identify appropriate computing solutions.

IS professionals also have in-depth knowledge of various databases and communicate the information that's stored in them. This kind of information helps organizations make good decisions and meet business needs.

The Information Systems program at Illinois State is accredited by the Computing Accreditation Commission of ABET.

Students in this major focus on using computer technology and information management methods to solve business problems. You'll develop skills to analyze organizational challenges and identify appropriate computing solutions.
