Finance
The Finance major focuses on the evolving demands of the global financial environment. You'll be introduced to the latest educational technology, including Compustat, CRSP, StockTrak, Bloomberg, and Morningstar. Our trading room provides a simulated environment where you can analyze the latest stock quotes and compare currency exchange rates, just as professional traders do.

The major in Global Cultural Studies will prepare you for work and citizenship in an interconnected world where boundaries between nations and cultures are disappearing. This new interdisciplinary major will foster understanding and skills to enhance your ability to collaborate in international contexts.

Through this humanities-based program, you will receive a practical and theoretical education that is essential for understanding cross-cultural encounters and engaging the complexities of the world.

The Global Cultural Studies Major offers a variety of courses across departments including Communication and Journalism, Economics, English, Government, History, World Languages and Cultural Studies, and more. Politics, Philosophy & Economics
Suffolk University's Politics, Philosophy & Economics (PPE) program is the first of its kind in the Boston area. An interdisciplinary major that draws from three academic departments, PPE will give you a foundation in policy, ethics, and economics. You'll develop the comprehensive understanding of complex social and political challenges you'll need to help solve them.

History
To be a history major, you need to be curious. You’ll become an investigator into the minds, motivations, and movements that shaped our world, all while studying in one of the most historic cities on earth. At Suffolk, you’ll sharpen your analytical and critical-thinking skills to interpret the past, contextualize the present, and frame the future.

Philosophy
The Department of Philosophy offers a variety of courses in which you'll study the principles of critical thinking and argumentation that help us address these questions. Here you can take classes on topics from logic to the philosophy of art, from existentialism to environmental ethics, from feminism to the philosophy of race and gender. We also feature courses outside the western tradition, including Chinese philosophy, Buddhism, African philosophy, and Native American religion. In advanced seminars, you'll delve into the works of the great philosophers—Plato, Aristotle, Kant, Heidegger, Wittgenstein, and others.

Suffolk’s English majors explore the powerful connections between literary themes and modern issues. You’ll learn to articulate strong points of view, compose your thoughts in an organized and creative way, identify major literary themes, and draw lessons from groundbreaking works that illuminate aspects of the human condition.

You’ll benefit from Suffolk’s proximity to the Boston Public Library, the country’s first large public library. Boston has been home to legendary writers for generations, including Emerson, Alcott, Thoreau, and Plath. Now, it's your turn to make your literary mark!

Concentration in Creative Writing
The creative writing concentration will develop your creative thinking and imaginative writing skills in three genres: poetry, fiction, and creative nonfiction. Intensive workshops in these genres will allow you to join a community of writers engaged in the task of finding their voices and making their words come alive on the page. You will learn about the world of literary publishing and the skills of editing, revising, and submitting your work that may one day make you a publish writer.

Join a community of successful innovators, bring your ideas to life, and become a business leader. If you’re creative, passionate, driven, and want to be an impact player in the business world, the entrepreneurship major is for you. The curriculum has two paths: corporate entrepreneurship and launching new ventures.

Incorporate entrepreneurship, the curriculum takes you on a practical journey of idea generation, opportunity feasibility, business planning, and strategic consulting with small firms.

In the launch sequence, you’ll work with faculty to create a new venture. The program is flexible and allows movement between both paths throughout your academic career.

Financial Wealth Management
Suffolk’s Wealth Management major combines courses in finance, investment analysis, risk management, and retirement, estate, and financial planning to help you build strong analytical and decision-making skills. When you graduate, you will be prepared for a career in wealth management with a major firm, or to start your own wealth management business, helping individuals and companies plan for their financial futures. In addition, because the wealth management curriculum meets Certified Financial Planner (CFP) Board requirements, you will be eligible to take the CFP exam.
